Resurgam!

Some of ya’ll were so kind as to tell me that I was free to take a bit of extra time for this update, so I did.  There’s more news about last weekend’s incident below - but for now, let’s go over what we’ve been able to add, recently!

Firstly: those who played the most recent Alpha should be relieved to know that we’ve begun the process of cataloging and placing the colliders that are still missing.  It’s essentially the game development equivalent of filling in potholes:  absolutely vital, but not the most interesting thing to watch. If any of our supporters here on patreon want to assist with the process, drop us a line! 

Secondly:  Richard has begun work on the fourth of the game’s “musical biomes.”  This one will cover the “Old Town” area of Peace Island: where the original homes & businesses of the island were located, before the current infrastructure & dock were built in the early years of World War 2.  Eventually, there will be 12 separate biomes.

Creating this feature is something that requires mind-blowing quantities of work and thought.  We were incredibly fortunate to find someone who could take such a project on…

Thirdly:  The cats can now pick up objects and carry them around! his is important, because whatever all nine cats are carrying at any one time will essentially be the player’s physical inventory.

Fourth:  We completed the first step in bringing in the new generation of reactive foliage - ensuring that you’ll never lose sight of your cats again!

And Finally:  While I’ve been recovering over the past week, I got a message back from a guy in Belgium who I worked with a few weeks ago to produce an EBM remix of the “Free Island Republic” anthem.  Apparently, he finished his work on the “vanilla mix.”  While there are a few samples and details to be added, I think he did a pretty good job!  Give it a listen, here! 

Now- I wanted to follow up about the illness I contracted over the weekend:  First off, thanks so much for everyone’s words of support- they are greatly appreciated!  While I am still a bit hazy in my head from time to time, it seems I have more or less made a recovery.  It took me a few days to get back up to speed, but I should be back to my regular schedule, this coming Monday.

Since I last updated, the initial results for the bacteria test on the water from the cabin came back positive.  I don’t want to include the image, because it looks pretty much what you would expect it to look like.

The Individual who owns the property, and assured me that the well water was “tested and safe” has refused to communicate directly.  His only response has been through Air BnB (more on them later,) and to paraphrase him:

“Your defamatory and criminal activities have been reported to authorities, and are under active investigation.”

Seriously- not a single word of commiseration - not a single word of denial - just an immediate attack.  Now, I know I said on tuesday that it would be a “very long time” until I bothered going out to that island again - much less that house.  However - you have to understand something about me:

Back in the day, I participated in “Project Chanology” - the famous war between Scientology and “Anonymous.”  In fact, you can see footage and stills of me in many documentaries about the movement:

At one time, I was wondering if I still wanted to go out to stand opposite of  the Scientology HQ in New York City’s Times Square at an ungodly hour in the middle of winter, knowing no one but a few warm scientologists within the building would be watching…

However:  A short time later, two Scientology lawyers showed up at my front door - HUGE guys (considering I am 6’4”, that’s saying something.)  They glowered down at me, handing over an impressive three-page letter, saying that they were watching me, and would not hesitate to hold me responsible for ANYTHING they chose to.

Now- you better BELIEVE that I was outside of Scientology HQ every chance I had, after that.  Knowing that they probably had an “SP Declare” against me, I made a point of knocking on their door every time I walked by their headquarters - never entering - just making eye contact with the receptionist (because I knew they would have to undergo special auditing, just for laying eyes on me.)

You see: I DON'T TAKE KINDLY TO BULLIES.

Fast forward to yesterday, when I got this guy’s message.  I got on the VERY NEXT ferry out to the island, walked to the house with the poisoned water, and stood opposite of where the guy’s surveillance cameras were, and danced - knowing that he was watching all the way down in Massachusetts, and that he knew precisely what I thought of his empty, childish threats.  The fact that there was nothing he could do about it but sit and watch made me a little extra bit jolly. 

This whole affair is ongoing - all I will say about Air BnB, is that this is a prime example of why that company has such a horrific reputation.  I will certainly never use their service again, and I would highly suggest that you follow my example.
