Ideas please.

What do you want to see in future videos? I can't promise I'll do exactly what you suggest but all ideas get buried in my brain and mutate into something that might resemble it...

I’m a little late to this discussion. I have an idea - but not sure if it’s far fetched. It would be an interesting journey trying to mimic a drum rack to the flavour of the Pulsar 23 drum machine. Is this just a ridiculous request? https://youtu.be/X47AQl6A16M

Jón Kristínarson

Will DM you

David Shooter

I'm open to discussions.

Ned Rush

Looking forward to see the keyboard cleaning tutorial asap!

Clyphx Pro?

Push 2 drum rack random beat performance glitched out with effects...and stuff

Lincoln Webber

Basically, any drum rack Groovebox thing that you make that’s updated for 11... maybe useable in all modes (I’m on suite, but looking out for all users). I just like your crazy drum racks and I’d like the chance to play around with one in 11.

Wanna play a gig Ned...? (Genuine question)

David Shooter

Here's hoping Ned - Its gonna be Megaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaah :-):-):-):-):-):-):-):-):-):-):-):-):-):-):-):-):-)

John Williams

Hopefully people might ask me to play some gigs for them.

Ned Rush

Cant wait to see you back out live by the way - Power to your elbow (and other sundry parts of course- but mainly elbows).

John Williams

Thanks Ned - (Pretty certain I've tried that, but it was back in Max 7 where I bit the bullet and went through both the (brilliant) Cipriani and Giri volumes, so things might have improved in Max 8 - Definitely worth another try as it severely restricted all the use of my Max devices in Live, and that was exactly the kind of craziness I bought Live Suite for anyway!

John Williams

You need to use a phasor in bar beats units @lock 1.

Ned Rush

Getting M4L devices to sync to Live for more than a bar!! - I've tried the lot - plugphasor etc and it only seems to sync for a bar max - after that it slowly drifts out of time- Drives me up the wall.

John Williams

feedback loops + the usual nedness

Kmac

Oh yeah, it’s a great feature. They just added scene chaining the other day as well.

Raoul

I just like watching you make music. I'd love to see how some of the tracks were made in your micro composition instagram posts were put together, or see you making stuff like that. It doesn't even need to be a tutorial per se.

Zander Grinfeld

Building a synth instrument rack? It’s something I do a lot for some really thick synth sounds.

Gordon Chapman-Fox

I didn't know the mc707 worked like this, but then all i do when i turn it on is just browse the presets.

Ned Rush

Squarepusher NTS 25 set?

Ned Rush

If you ever feel like making something like that jazz drum rack, but updated with using 11, that would be neat.

SiqN

time as in the lfo speed, so you can really chop up live bass weirdly - keeps it random for ya ennit

Tebbisimo

hey mate theres only really two things really. I wanna make actual evolving drums, but then im going away from your randomness, so its just something u just have to sit there and crack. I know uve done a few bass episodes - but I'd love one on just FX for the bass....I get a bit lost where to take them and what to do. I'd love to watch a video of you do a nice FX Rack for Bass machines/vsts, and then stick a random LFO and Time on a MAcro and switch between them all. (and then eject the actual knowledge from my brain and download the set) I dunno if you heard like Squarepusher NTS 25 set....but like, i mean just how do you get a 303 to sound like that, plz i beg u

Tebbisimo

Yes I would like to do some music theory videos but I need to iron out some ideas first. And clean my keyboard.

Ned Rush

Maybe some Music Theory related video also using the new scale function? Or maybe Chords? Somehow a smarter/faster way to organise your key signatures, harmony, scales, relative scales ecc could be very useful (maybe a template project?) Also some multi clocking ideas to create poly metering or poly rhytmic but only for specific audio/midi channels could be really useful (for example having the possibility to give different tempos / different divisions or multiples of the original tempo to different audio/midi channels without having to set things up in the clip view)

Ortensio - GOEDEL - zeta

Making a basic song, from start to finish (mixing, layering, structure).

Marios

Something on sound design / synthesis, or creating clean+subtle breaks

Wiljan Vermeer

Sorry, that probably wasn’t a clear explanation. It wouldn’t be moving the clips around but rather a “button” that you set to remember to launch certain clips from certain tracks in order to create a “scene” as opposed to the normal way of having to put all the clips in the same row to create a scene. This is an entirely separate idea from the retroactive audio recording thing and the Ableton snapshots thing btw, 3 different idea pitches.

Raoul

I would love to see something on song structure or how you flow your songs together.

Allan J Page

If it’s an audio clip you can’t put it anywhere you want.

Ned Rush

I’m thinking of how the MC707 works with scenes in that the way a scene is set has nothing to do with what particular row your on. A scene can be any clip from any track(s) from any row. The “capture and insert scene” function in Ableton gets halfway there but you still have to ultimately trigger a row to recall it which I feel like gets messy. Probably more of a M4L solution if I had to guess. Found an old M4L patch that does something similar but it seems a bit outdated. I feel like compositionally it’s easier to play and mess around that way then having to manually organize/remember rows. Also, if possible, it could be extra wild to figure out how juggle that way 👀

Raoul

What’s non linear scene launching?

Ned Rush

Figuring out Ableton session “snapshots” in Live 11 since the few M4L tools for that seemed to stop working. It might be possible with a deep dive into the new macro variations functionality. Also retrospective audio recording and non linear scene launching.

Raoul

More breaks and beats :)

rynis

I’m writing a new course for music Hackspace that might interest you.

Ned Rush

Would welcome another epic Max/Msp adventure a la MC Grainz -- learned a lot from patching along. Maybe a crazy drum machine/sequencer

Dave Ramirez

I'm here for the Push 2 performance racks. Easily playable/changeable macro knobs. Maybe beat repeat tips for drum racks.

adminion

Ok I’ve fused these ideas into something that could be good.

Ned Rush

A Jungle Live Set, something like the IDM sample pack series but specifiek to jungle/Breakcore, a bit like the live set of stamza

Simon Goderis

Or how about taking some of our stuff and messing it up? I have a few dozen little pieces that I have no idea how to turn into ‘finished’ tracks.

Mark Bennett

I’d like something where you applied your approach to more drifty, ambient, beat-less kind of stuff. Or, working in real instruments like guitar.

I'd definitely like to see more Octatrack tutorials. If you could figure out how something like this works that would be amazing! See: https://youtu.be/pV4vOkS65dk

Len Reidy

More sound design sessions with all those crazy new devices in Live 11 (Inspired by Nature, Hybrid Reverb, Spectral Delay, Spectral Resonator, …) and other exotic max devices from Dillon Bastan like Cellular Degradation 🙂
