Added 2024-08-10 21:46:11 +0000 UTCI absolutely love PlantSims! Since TS2 they have been one of my favorite life states. Sadly in TS4 they were added as a temporary life state, which was a big letdown. Most people don't even know about them unless they played the game during the 2016 Spring Challenge.
This mod is here to fix that and bring a more permanent PlantSim play style.
How to Become a PlantSim (With this Mod)
With this mod, there are multiple ways to become a PlantSim depending on how you want to experience it.
"Plant-a-Sim" EA Scenario

The new EA scenario allows you to start/choose a household to start the "PlantSim Challenge". Once you start the scenario your sim will have a "Forbidden Fruit" in their inventory. Eat the fruit to become a PlantSim.
Reward Store Trait

With 500 reward points, you can purchase the "PlantSim" reward store item. This will give your sim a "Forbidden Fruit" in their personal inventory. You can then eat it to become a PlantSim.
Mysterious Tree Adventure - Willow Creek

If you befriend the Mysterious Tree near the "Crick Cabana" lot in Willow Creek eventually it will open up a secret door for you to explore. If you successfully complete the adventure you will be asked to go to "Sylvan Glade", once you travel there your sim will be given a "Forbidden Fruit" in their personal inventory. You can also track your current relationship with the tree via the relationship panel.
Eating PlantSim Foods

You can eat different foods to become a PlantSim. Such as the "Forbidden Fruit of the Plantsim" or "Plantmatter Ice Cream" from Cool Kitchen Suff!
Hidden Ways to Become A PlantSim
If a sim with a high gardening level decides they want to fertilize their plants they may just contract a new strange illness that might do more than just give them a cold. But at least its only temporary....
How to Stop Being a PlantSim (With this Mod)
If you no longer wish to be a PlantSim then you can spend 500 reward store points to buy the "Plantophic-C" PlantSim cure. Once you buy the reward item it will be found in your sims personal inventory. Sims that enjoy Herbalism can also craft this cure depending on their skill level. Once a PlantSim drinks it they will become human again.

Be a PlantSim Forever

With PlantSim Lives, there is no longer a time limit on being a PlantSim. You will be a PlantSim forever unless you take the cure to turn your Sim back into a human.
Use Any Hair!

With PlantSim Lives you are able to use any hairstyle on your PlantSims. You are no longer limited to the short hairstyle EA forced PlantSims to have.
Less Idle Animations

PlantSims have 2 idle animations they do. One during photosynthesis and one randomly where they grow these little leaves as pictured. With PlantSim Lives I have reduced how frequently this happens. So PlantSims will only do these idle animations occasionally instead of pretty much every 5 sim minutes.
Custom PlantSim Interactions
With this mod, you will find new interactions for PlantSims and for other sims to use with PlantSims. More interactions will be added over time.
Friendly | Complain About Aphids - A PlantSim when sad/stressed/uncomfortable will get this new interaction.
Friendly | Complement Foliage - Any sim can complement a PlantSim.
Friendly | Discuss Gardening Tips - PlantSims can talk about gardening tips with other PlantSims.
Friendly | Enthuse About PlantSims - Any sim can enthuse about PlantSims to a PlantSim.
Friendly | Talk About Nature - Any PlantSim can talk to any other sim about nature.
Friendly | Reveal PlantSim Secret - Any PlantSim will be able to reveal their true nature of being a PlantSim to other Sims.
Friendly | Ask if PlantSim - Any sim will be able to ask other sims if they are a PlantSim. Depending on your relationship and the nature of the sim you question, you will get different outcomes.
Funny | Joke About Devils Lettuce - Any PlantSim can tell a joke to another sim.
Romantic | Complement Aroma - Any PlantSim can complement another PlantSim.
Self Interaction | Go on a Nature Walk - Any PlantSim can click on themselves to go on a nature walk.
Self Interaction | Disguise/Undisguise Self - Any PlantSim can disguise themselves at any time so they can "fit in" with other Sims.
Mirror Interaction | Prune Self - Any Plantsim will be able to prune themselves in the mirror. This will regenerate the Pruning/Hygiene motive of your PlantSim.

Custom Motives

PlantSims are just like other sims in the fact that they have specific needs. But Plants dont exactly have all the same needs as humans. So I fixed that. You now have new motive names, as well as various things you can do in the game to regenerate these motives. Of course you can hover over the need in game to read how to solve it, or just click on the need to solve.
PlantSim Genetics

Have you ever wanted to just play a PlantSim family and weren't able to? Well now you can! The PlantSim trait can now be inherited! Try for Baby/Have a Science baby will now result in the chance of having a PlantSim offspring. If a PlantSim has a "solo" science baby or a baby with another PlantSim, the offspring will be 100% plantsim. If the PlantSim has a baby with another human or occult there is a 50/50 chance for the child to be a Plantsim or maybe even a hybrid! Children born as PlantSims will be given a special birth certificate to remind them where they came from. The birth certificate can be found in the parents inventory.
Custom Plumbob

PlantSims of all ages will now have a custom plumbob to be able to visually show you quickly that they are a PlantSim. Just like other occults.
PlantSim Disguise

Are you tired of your PlantSim having green skin but still want it to be a PlantSim? You can now put on a "disguise" that will remove the green skin from the PlantSim but keep its trait. You can disguise/undisguise yourself any time!
Custom Harvestable: Sun Plant

The sun plant can be purchased anywhere you buy fruits/vegetables. This was added for those that want a way to take care of their PlantSims Sunlight/Hunger motive on cloudy days or just want to have a Houseplant.
If you plant the fruit to grow a SunPlant any PlantSims that get near the sunplant will get a buff to regenerate their hunger motive. If the sim leaves the area of the plant, they will get a 2 hour buff.
Custom Objects

I have added a few objects to the game that will help with keeping your PlantSim maintained as you play. These of course can be found in Build/Buy and Debug.
Water Bottle - A refillable water bottle that your PlantSim can drink on the go to regenerate their water motive.
Photosynthesis Sun Lamp - A lamp that can be placed indoors or outdoors that will provide a buff to any nearby plantsims to regenerate their Sunlight/Hunger motive. If the sim leaves the area where the lamp is, they will be given the buff for 2 hours.
Plant Tattoos - CAS

You will find 2 new tattoos in CAS, these are unisex. One is a remake of The Sims 2 PlantSim tattoo that covers the entire body, the other is a small flower located at the back of the neck. Each tattoo comes in multiple opacities. The tattoo on the back of the neck will show on your PlantSim depending on their current water motive. It is vibrant when well hydrated and will disappear as the Sims needs plummet.

PlantSims generally do not eat. They need sunlight to fill their hunger motive. But on cloudy days there is no sun and your PlantSim could starve! So I have added the following items that your PlantSim can eat/drink to satisfy their need for sunlight.

- Fixed issue causing plantsims not being able to regenerate their hunger when outdoors. You can now use plantsim foods, absorbing plants, sun lamp, or sunlight on non-cloudy days to regenerate hunger.
- Added buff to reduce the decay rate of plantsim hunger/water motives as requested. Currently the decay rate is set to 0.5, this may be adjusted further in the future.
- PlantSim disguise interactions will now only appear on the active plantsim and not other sims

- Removed EA override for "Ask for Magic Bean" as it is now part of the main game with the Enchanted Nature pack.
- Updated harvestable Sun Plant, now has all new interactions added with the new pack.
- Fixed sun plant broadcaster for fertilizer sickness, only human sims can get this temp plantsim buff state. Occults will no longer be able to get the fertilizer sickness.

- Restructured mod folder file and some file names, be sure to delete all old files when updating.

- Updated water bottle item, now uses the exact same files as the custom recipe file. If you use this mod, you DO NOT need the custom water bottle recipe. If you want the water bottle to be craftable you will need Srsly Custom Menus - Cooking. Otherwise you will only get one for completing specific plantsim goals or SCCO/Go Shopping grocery purchase.

+ Added custom harvestable "Sun Plant" that can be eaten to provide water/sun motive gain or grown and placed indoor/outdoors to broadcast a buff to regen hunger over time. For those that want to photosynthesize inside!
+ Added visual friendship to the cric cabana "rabbit hole tree" so now you can visually see your current relationship with it. (Added for future interactions being added to the tree)
+ Added "Prune Self" interaction to all mirrors for PlantSims. Regenerates hygiene/pruning motive. If interaction completed, will provide a +1 flirty moodlet for 2 hours.

Compatibility
This mod is not compatible with any mod that alters the EA PlantSim tuning.
This mod overrides most PlantSim tuning.

How to Install
1. Download the .package file on this page.
2. Download Lot51 Core Library
3. Put the .package and Core Library script in your Documents/Electonic Arts/Mods folder. Make sure that the script files are no more than 1 folder deep or the game will not read them.
4. Make sure Script Mods are enabled in your in-game settings.
5. Enjoy!
