Some behind-the-scenes musings on the creative process...
I have discovered the hardest part of this comic is writing the transitions and setups for the sex. It’d be so easy to have a sex comic be “hi i’m delivering your pizza [and they bone]” or “oh no the spell backfired and summoned Cthulhu! [and they bone]” in a primarily visual medium. No way that’d work in an erotic novel, where the buildup of tension is the point. But, obviously, there are pornos and pictures that are pretty much just that. For a comic, it’s tricky having the right blend.
This is my first comic, so I’m learning as I go, but I do want this to be an entertaining STORY. At a rate of 2 pages a month (trust me, I can’t go faster) if I dawdled too long it’d be a year till we got to “The Action.” As an artist, I know ultimately that’s it’s the visual that my audience pays to see, but it’s the expository scenes that allow for character development, and humor.
So, anyway— long-winded way to say, I wanna put pages in where characters are primarily walking and talking, where I can put in jokes that have been running around my head. And I’ll try and put in a little sexy where I can. These are pages that’ll get maybe 15 faves when I post them on Hentai Foundry, whereas if I put a pinup or sex pic it’ll get 200+. But you guys, who pay, are my primary audience, and I’m curious as to your feedback. Are you here because you like this idea of a funny sex comic, and think I’m executing it well, or are you primarily here for the pinups and fan art, and think I’m wasting my time by not having the characters teleport to the next opportunity for luvin’?
