Game Mess in 2025

Still feel like I'm getting my feet underneath me in 2025. A lot of that is just cleaning up personal projects from late last year. I've also been saying "yes" to too many things, and I've been carrying around the guilt of not actually having the bandwidth or energy to see that stuff through.
But we move on, and with that in mind, I wanted to give the Patreon folks who may not be in the Discord a chance to have their voice heard. For the most part, the Patreon is way for you to show us a little extra support. We don't promise too much, and you all do not demand too much. And yet, I want to be mindful that this is a transaction, and maybe you want something specific in exchange for your money.
So, with that said, here is your chance to give us some feedback about what you would like to see more of in 2025. For example, in the Discord, people have said that they would like us to use what time we have to do more Jeopardy episodes. No promises, but that is possible. Now, is that something you agree with, or do you want something else instead?

I've always liked the community interaction during the shows, whether it's podcast threads, submitting Jeopardy questions, or the quarterly opencritic predictions. I think it makes people they are a little part of the show, which is fun. So more of that I guess.

If you feel like you need to add perks, maybe do something silly that's easy and less stress. Show off your gaming collection or something small. Make sure you take time for yourself and don't overdo it.

2025-01-28 22:25:49 +0000 UTCI’ll admit jeopardy was the reason I joined the Patreon originally, so I’d love to see more of it. That being said, I understand that it’s logistically very difficult. My favorite part of game mess is the gamey stuff you all do. Besides jeopardy I really enjoy the drafts and the top tens. I’ll admit I’m not as into the mount Rushmore’s because I feel like 4 slots isn’t enough slots for an interesting discussion most of the time. I’d say anything that has a semblance of competition is a lot of fun. I really liked the bowser’s hurry on GB. Maybe something similar could be done in a shorter form with randomizers or emulators. I’ve also been a fan of the speed run bingo races people do in Mario sunshine for example.

Maybe you can try faster-paced or simplified versions of games like Jeopardy that still focus on trivia/ quick thinking. Games like Trivia Bingo (answer trivia questions to fill a bingo card); Minute Master (60 seconds to answer as many questions as possible in a category); Answer Chain (a player answers a trivia question, then the next question has a connection to the previous answer); Fact or Fiction (Players are given statements and must quickly determine if they are true or false); One-Clue Wonder (Players are given just one hint for a question and must answer immediately); and Fast Facts (compete to name as many correct answers to a category). Maybe these smaller games are easier to put together (could be totally wrong lol). Overall, I think the audience mainly enjoys the silly banter & competitive spirit of you guys. If you do a Jeopardy once a quarter but have more smaller games in a standalone show or in the normal shows, it could be a middle ground.

More Jeopardy would be great, but I know it’s time consuming so I am not expecting new episodes every month. I loved the friendly bet you guys did with homework on Giant Bomb, so maybe something like that for any bets/games you guys play on GameMess and Nintendogs would be cool. Your recommendations get me to play games I normally wouldn’t play, like Snow Runners. (I even bought Kingdom Hearts for God’s sake.) I pay the Patreon to help support the channel because I enjoy what you guys do. Just keep doing what you’re doing and don’t feel like you need to overextend yourselves.

Honestly, past that, I just support because I like what you guys do both here and at GB. I don't really engage with the discord or listen to the pods live or any of the community stuff. I don't even know if that's restricted to the Patreon but going to believe it is. Anything above and beyond is nice, but just keep giving us a way to directly provide you some $$ for the literal hours and hours per week of content and I'm happy.

I’d honestly love a tinkering style show or couple special streams , potentially with Shawn as a bonus , just messing around with your custom / modded consoles and old tech. You guys always mention these little projects you’re working on and I don’t want to take something you enjoy and turn it into work, but would be a fun watch if it’s an appealing idea

I would love a Kendrick Lamar reaction with Mitch (good kid maad city), or an avatar the last airbender watch along,or a monthly fighting game night with Cristian (new/old fighting games), or my favorite would just be to invite a few people together and have a regular family feud game (not necessarily gaming related).
