023. Mrs. Potts (Intro)
Added 2023-08-01 19:03:00 +0000 UTC
Mrs. Potts is the mother of Chip and head housekeeper at the castle in Beauty and the Beast, she was transformed into an enchanted teapot when the curse was cast on the castle.
Personality wise she's kind and nurturing but she also has a tough no-nonsense demeanor, like in the scene where she scolds Chip for blowing bubbles. Although this would tie in with the Chip model nicely, I'd rather showcase her happy and loving side because I think she's associated more with that. So for her pose I'm going to have her looking lovingly at chip instead like in the bottom right picture.
Her body is already modeled I've just gotta add her pose and details so with a bit of luck she should be out on the page a little later on tonight. Character trivia is below, as always thanks for subscribing!
- Mrs. Potts is voiced by Angela Lansbury of Murder She Wrote fame. When she first saw the initial sketches for the character, she was instantly reminded of a "little cockney lady" that she had known while growing up in London and found Mrs. Potts' voice in those memories.
- Mrs. Potts' husband has never been revealed in animated canon. In the 2017 live-action adaptation, she has a husband Jean, who is a major character.
- A teapot resembling Mrs. Potts is seen in the ABC television series Once Upon a Time episode "Skin Deep". The episode itself also stars many characters from Beauty and the Beast.
- In Descendants: Isle of the Lost Rush, Mrs. Potts is mentioned to still be around despite 20 years passing.
- The only time her lid was removed intentionally was in The Enchanted Christmas.
- In the Disney film Hocus Pocus, one of the kids who go trick-or-treating is dressed up as Mrs. Potts.
- Mrs. Potts also makes a small cameo as a lifeless teapot at Jane Porter's camp in Tarzan. Alongside her is a lifeless teacup resembling Chip.
