Good evening everybody, I hope you're all well. An update on the latest project. It's week three on Random CSGO Bullshittery (part 9).
Thus far everything is going smoothly. The whole video is currently in the quality assurance phase. Which means I'm scrubbing through about 50 issues, from minor to major. Anything from slight transition weirdness, to scenes that perhaps could be done better and need a second attempt.
At the start of the week there were about 80, just to quantify how long this is taking.

A rare project is this. For After Effects has not merely obeyed, but has worked near damn-near flawlessly. And the tracking system has been extremely cooperative. Though this is probably more due to CSGO than the software.
A treat it is, to have a purple arrow that STAYS the same shade of purple, above a players head, regardless of the direction they're facing. It's probably a competitive gaming thing? Either way, it's made the editing pretty easy.
The only minor quibble would be the audio balancing. As many of these clips are from before I had cracked the audio layering thing (or were captured using Shadowplay that has one layer). So the loud voices are sometimes juxtaposed with quiet shooting. I'll need to carefully keyframe the audio with my studio-headphones later. Might even add some of the gun sounds in post if it's noticeably bad.

Tell you something fun I did do though. I saw an opportunity for a bit of silliness in Source Filmmaker. Which I touched upon very briefly years ago in a similar bullshittery.
Someone made a throwaway reference to the "French National Playoffs". And my inner Englishman couldn't resist a dig, by visualising what that would look like (not quite finished though):

Source Filmmaker is actually really easy to get into. I remember being somewhat befuddled previously. But my accrued After Effects experience has made it much easier to understand. They're not that different in structure.

And honestly, I'm glad for the additional experience. I'm planning on including a bunch of similar cut-away gags in the later Team Fortress 2 bullshittery. Having been inspired by the format shown in by the Youtuber LazyPurple in the "How it feels to play X" series.
It demonstrates that Source Filmmaker can compliment highlight reels really well. And so I consider the practice very helpful indeed.

Cracking on with the quality assurance. By the end of the week there'll probably still be an art commission to complete, which I'll attempt to expedite. But really I don't expect this one will be delayed long. Bear with me :)
