Every season had a noticeable increase in visual quality, but XV is a massive leap above anything else. Especially the transformations. This season is insanely detailed and also has some of my favorite songs in the entire show, already making it a treat to watch even before you get to the many fun plot points about to show up. I also love how XV wastes no time hopping straight into the plotline with these gods. This is, by far, the most powerful enemy to be introduced in a first-episode fight scene and it instantly raises the stakes for how this show is supposed to escalate from here. Their final move in this fight is also interesting, as it's a direct development from last season's final fight. Last season they "reached out" and threw their gears to Hibiki in a desperate move to protect her from Adam. This final strike was them realizing they could convert their symphogears into pure energy and launch it, creating one singular blast. It's situational, but a logical development to something they discovered last season. It's also yet another sign that they're viewing their symphogears as a visualization of energy and not merely a set transformation, giving them far more flexibility in how it's used. It's something that's existed since G, with Tsubasa being able to limit her output and create a slimmed-down version of her Symphogear that resists anti-Linker, but we're finally seeing the full payoffs of this experimentation.
