Severus’ Return to Britain—When Should It Happen?

As I’m writing the story, I find myself debating a crucial decision—when should Severus return to Britain? He will come back, no doubt about that, but the timing is where I’m stuck.
Here are the options:
Option 1: Severus returns to Hogwarts for his 7th year.
Option 2: Severus completes his education and then returns.
Option 3: Severus returns to Britain a few years after completing his education (I have a couple of ideas for this scenario).
Right now, I’m leaning toward Option 3, but I’d love to hear your thoughts! Which option do you think works best for the story? Vote and let me know your reasoning in the comments!

I kinda hope that he'll return in a few years after completing his education other where else besides Hogwash, than we can see how his Dumbledore and his former schoolmates/bullies see how well off he is without them, especially Lily. I have a guilty pleasure of reading fan stories of her reacting to how Snape is simply killing her with his success while she has no noticeable accomplishments to her name except being engaged or stuck with James.
