Hope the rudeness passes, wanted to share with a book series called "The Suneater", pulls some stuff from Dune, it's been a very interesting series so far.

1.On the subject of American Poets I like to point out that T.S. Elliot was born in Saint Louis Missouri so technically he counts. I would recommend Old Possum's Book of Practical Cats for obvious reasons.😉 2. On the subject of playing cards during the Vietnam War the US military produced survival playing cards to help educate freshly arrived troops while they were playing poker. I think the Van Zant militia should adopt a similar strategy to pass on Tex’s hard won battlefield experience to the upcoming generation of mech warriors

I was more talking about the future possible con; like a real big one. But maybe the same thing applies?

cgdeth

Someone mentioned dice.... Baron of Dice makes custom dice, including official Battletech dice. Maybe hit him up?

Nerd_Power

Hey Tex, please save voice. I don't know if this is a double post so if so, please forgive. I was curious if Clan or Inner Sphere mech units camouflaged their mechs or just had the one paint scheme no matter the environment they fought in? I know Camo Specs on-line is a thing, and practically speaking, paint minis however desired, I was just curious if i could camo up my mechs or dragoons and still be lore accurate? Thank you again for everything you and the team do.

Nerd_Power

Hey Tex, please save voice. Never apologize for taking time for yourself. You can't pour from an empty vessel and all that. God bless you and your team. 🫂 🤗 seyla

If we're going to assign Gimli a mech, I'm voting in my modified Charger. A downgraded 370 engine, but with a supercharger Mk IV, 5 small lasers... and MY AXE. 75kph doesn't seem all that fast until the turbo kicks in, and 80 tons barrels down on you at 99 kph with what looks like half of what's left of a Yamato BB. Dwarfs are very dangerous in a sprint, after all.

Hail Cargonia and thank you Tex for all the quality content you take your time to make so impressive! I actually was in the army when they were switching from the great M60 to the Saw which ya not an upgrade. I almost got to participate in the “See how long you can keep a 50 gallon drum plastic barrel in the air with the M60” My daughter now in the army is getting my 7mm Mag rifle and almost got me my dream gun, sorry if cliche, but a 357 colt python with real wood grip. I fired one 30 years ago and was my favorite! So question as a 357 is by no means cheap do you have a 10 mil pistol suggestion for target range shooting? I love your content and have watched all the Battletech and Christmas bullet videos over a dozen times as well as the MAGISTRATUM MUNDANUS which always lifts my spirits. Stay safe and always yourself Tex and please thank all your team for they are a talented giving group! Oh and patches, coins and pins would be fantastic merch!

Hey Tex, this is a long one so feel free to save your voice if you like. A convention could be fun. Whether or not I would go is down to location, finances and time of year etc etc, normal kind of stuff. I would definitely be down to support the channel by purchasing merchandise. Challenge coins, pins, and patches would be cool. First time hearing about the Van Zandt TRO and cookbook, and I’d like to submit a design of my own: the “Thumpander.” Periphery “we have Hollander at home” built by the VZFSM. It’s a medium frankenmech cobbled together from Sentinel legs, a Shadowhawk torso and cockpit, “industrial mech” (Pack Hunter) arms and mounting a full size Thumper. She’s “A-10 Warthog” kinda purty and kicks like a mule but she’ll take the head off’n any Pirate or Capellan that can’t read the signs. I present the following vignette: —Somewhere on Van Zandt, at the forest edge near fields sidecorn/coca plants (whichever or both if you prefer) gently swaying in the cool breeze, a Capellan Raven quietly stalks. The pilot stops at a break in the treeline. Taking in the view with greedy eyes, he wonders how much he’ll be rewarded for bringing news of this bountiful resource back to House Liao. Then, an almost loving, gentle clink on the cockpit glass catches his attention. His head snaps to the right and sees the gaping muzzle of an artillery piece. As his eyes track upwards towards the monstrous weapon’s breech, they alight on a face with mirthful eyes and a partially toothy grin framed inside an ancient looking neurohelmet. The pilot brings a corded microphone to his mouth and the raven pilot sees the other’s lips begin to move, a piece of straw bouncing up and down between them. A heavily accented voice blasts from this ugly mech’s PA system. “Didn’t y’all read the sign? NO CAPELLANS.” The raven pilot begins to tremble as the taller frankenmech leans in towards him, the weapon’s massive barrel pushing against the now creaking glass causing the smaller mech to lean precariously. Gyros whining as it struggles to stay upright, the raven pilot feels a cold sweat break out across his face and back. Seeing the unwelcome visitor begin to shake and sweat nervously the frankenmech pilot smiles wider, his lips move, the straw bouncing up and down again: “Thought all y’all Cappies were supposed to be sneaky ‘n shit.  I wonder how hard it be to taxidermy a raven.  I’ll put yers on my mantle next to that overgrown lizard them Kurit’ns sent last week.” The raven pilot’s eyes go wide, visibly quaking now, eyes filling with tears. The frankenmech pilot speaks again “Ha!  I’m just kidding.  Won’t be enough left fer that.” His smile evaporates. Two months later, somewhere on Van Zandt, a Capellan Raven quietly stalks through the woods he comes to the fields of sidecorn and/or coca plants. He brings his mech to a halt and with avarice in his eyes, barely notices the bowl shaped depression his mech is standing in, the fading drag marks leading away, and the small fragments of metal strewn across the forest floor. One of them is emblazoned with the scorched, barely visible symbol of a sword wielding arm framed inside an inverted triangle. Loving the Ultimate Admiral campaigns, Xenonauts and looking forward to the Christmas Dump. Also super happy to finally be able to support the channel. God Speed to you and the crew and fair winds and following seas through all your current and future endeavors.

The BPLCon is strictly for BPL members. It is recommended to come join the BPL Auxiliary, however, as it is the public version of the Black Pants Legion discord. It can be found at: https://discord.gg/bplaux

Hail Cargonia First-time poster here, Tex! I just want to say that you and your team have done incredible work and helped so many people. Your videos helped me rediscover the joy of BattleTech and introduced me to the wonders of Space Station 14, especially the glorious land of Cargonia. Hail Cargonia—move cargo, make money!

G’Day Tex Feel free to save the voice You are not wrong, the community for collecting old LEGO sets is insane, and it isn’t even particularly old sets. I have a set I purchased for $90 (AUD of course) about 15 years ago which is now selling for around $2K to $3K. If there is a specific set you are after, hit me up, turns out I know people 😉. As for security for our LEGO convention, we do have security, 24 hour security actually, but by-and-large with 400 conventioneers and 20,000 members of the public we generally only have a handful of incidents each year, which is actually pretty good. As for the discussion on fantasy books, Discworld would have to be my favourite, but LotRs is pretty good. I read it in year 8 and was feeling pretty good about myself and decided to read the Dune series. These two things are not equivalent, despite my English teachers opinion, Dune was a way harder task to read and comprehend. Not the LotR wasn’t but I was probably a bit too young for it. I was WAY to young to read Dune, although a hospital stay in the early 00’s did give me time to re-read it. Keep on keeping on You friend in LEGO nonsense.

"I could go on about BBQ." >Gets out notepad. Welcome back Tex, I've only had the pleasure of Texan BBQ a few times. Yet to have a religious experience but that may be due to not being a foodie. That said, Smoke Monkey was very good. Don't have to read, but I figure I'd drop this here as it's from another corner of the net and I think you'd appreciate what they're doing. PoorCast is a 40k podcast and they put together a fairly detailed ruleset for PvE (Horde Mode). It's my first experience playing a tabletop wargame and thanks to tabletop simulator I don't need to sell any kidneys to experiment with lists.

Captain1nsaneo

Do we have to be in the BPL Aux to attend a future con? My discord has enough non-sense as it is. Also for Mr.Tex: Trench-Crusade is a tabletop game that looks right up your alley of strange and world war 1.

cgdeth

Hello Mr. Tex, (No need to read aloud) Glad to hear you had some time away to enjoy the meetup. As I get older, I realize more and more the importance of keeping up with old friends. Cherish the time we get to spend with them, and the memories we make. As an Aux noob, I wanted to know if there is a BPL Origin Story. How it was originally formed? Where did the name come from? Just curious as to where this group of wonderful maniacs came from. If that’s too long of a story for here, no worries. Might make a fun Podcast episode. One last question: Have you had a chance to use the BattleTech Battle Pods? I found out a place in Houston still has them in use, and I have always wanted to try them since they came out in the early 90’s. I didn’t think they still existed, so now I want to go try them out. Maybe invite some Auxholes to go along some weekend. Take care Mr. Tex P.S. My BTA3062 save got borked after the update too. But having to start from scratch and still enjoy the game is a testament to how good it really is!

Sgt CRAB

The Van Zandt TRO and Cookbook just makes me picture flipping through the readout and then getting “MT4-LF Meatloaf” with just the old TRO Lineart of a meatloaf with the overview/combat deployment/variants section

Hey Tex- I know you have way too many project ideas already but have you considered a Tex Talks History about some of the weirder military team ups like the Battle of Itter Castle or the Polar Bear Expedition? I feel like these events are incredibly interesting and don't get talked about in normal history conversations. Hope you are well and I love the con idea!

OrphanMech

A convention sounds interesting, especially since my country's about to join the Visa Waiver programme. Congratulations on Twycross; my favourite parts are always when you talk about the bigger political/cultural/civilisational picture.

Weirdfish

Hello Tex You needn't read this aloud. You've mentioned a handful of times that you have a condition that is unfortunately will not permanently stop its continued progress. In spite of this have you considered using one of those Mimic audio software to make a Simulacrum of your voice so you can still talk to people? I remember the fear of others abusing it to make things out of other peoples speech but it could be turned for good. I'm sorry if this is more personal than is acceptable and discard if so.

Loreman

Hey Tex love the merch idea if it was small and the con doe's sound intriguing though I think again smaller for the first one would be better. An i'm happy to report that I played my first game of battletech on the table. Got my ass kick but I did kill one player's Atlas who painted it pink with a lucky Long Tom hit. Sorry he was so smug about it I had to kill it. See you next time

russell marsh

Tex feels the need to apologize to do what anyone else would do sooner and more extensively than him. Tex also multitasks and apologizes for that, for some reason, when he doesn't have to on top of his day job. Tex Talks Youtube being fulla shit. I'm gonna have to watch Twycross again now. I usually watch one of your HBS Battletech livestreams, or the Mackie, or the Clanner duology (I hate the Clans even more than in-universe Tex does, but the tragedy of their origin story is compelling). Not false humility, no. False would be someone fishing for compliments. We know it's real modesty. But we still know you're awesome and will continue to say so. True praise for the deserving. Xenonauts is entertaining so far. As I said on youtube under my different name there, appreciated the MST3K reference. Tex Talks Barbecue Restaurants. Poor Dudeosaurus Rex.

Jay McIntyre

Just wanted to say thank you to Mike for adding in the mod installation guide in the recent Xenonauts video. Now that I know what I was doing wrong on the install, I have been merrily wiping out the Ays with .458 Garands and Thompsons. Tis great fun, so thanks to Hat as well!

No need to read aloud: I am trying to run a TTRPG for adults who don't have much free time. I have tried to introduce Traveller first. The idea was well received, but the table didn't have the bandwidth to read the book. Any suggestions for rules light systems or games to be picked up in under an hour? God speed sir.

ManUnmade

No apologies needed for time spent with those who care for you!

Gaunt

Never apologize for taking time off to rejuvenate. You needed it. You sound much better now. Glad to hear the meet up went well. I can’t wait for the Magistradum Mundanius Book I’ve listened to that series like 4-5 times now.

Luminaire

Hi Tex! I have a question about the 1981 movie "Outland" I hear that there was a specific shotgun in that movie that was never in any other movie. Could you tell me what shotgun that wad, and what is unique about it?

Mad Ducks

Gimlis mech is a dual AC20 Hunchback with a custom made two handed mech battle axe...

Sons of Lorgar

Good evening or afternoon Tex. Feel free to read to yourself. As for last weeks question about clan documentaries, I'd love to hear more about them, being a clanner myself. Hope the con crud has cleared up. By the time you have read this I will have ran 7 one shots in 5 systems over the span of two and a half days (VtM V20, DnD 5e, Pathfinder 1 and 2 E, and Shadowrun 4e) and depending on the success will run it again next year, with more or different ones like Traveller. Hope you're week goes well/has been good. Keep on keeping on.

Fireonfriendly

Keep the Faith, and i had a bad idea for a Leagon Vs Aux game HoldFast: Nations at war, just lines of us blasting away and bayonet charging. just as an idea

Opie74

Hmm, a deck of playing cards filled with memes from the legion and the aux........ I'd buy that in a heartbeat. That'd be hilarious

MaezHughes

The Mundanus manual will be an all in one book correct? Just wondering if I will need to aquire other books to inflict things on players. Also your thoughts on coffee are on point, love me a light roast...tastes good and I need the caffeine. I had another thought, but gone like a fast in the wind...damnit...oh well, stay safe and be well-adjacent. so....this just happened...I'm at a high school football game, and the opposing team's band started playing Country Road....I started laughing bc all I could hear is Goat singing Gun Cargo

The Mailman

Can I just say this is great, or will that sound like sarcasm, would I even be able to tell?

Nowisthewinterofourdiscord

Very excite about the Traveller!! Tell Marc he done good.. real good. *heavy breathing in my vacc suit* Be well, all in the Legion. Yes, you too Tex!

freedeau

Hell yeah! Magistratum Mundanus book! SO FUCKING EXCITED! Can't come fast enough. I'm glad you had fun and were able to relax. On a side note. I've managed to deal with my medical debt to the point that I can once again spend money on ammo. Where do you get your ammo Mr. Tex? I'm hoping to put more rounds than is entirely reasonable through my Mosin-Nagant. Have a good week, and stay safe.

Santo

Miss you buddy. It was great seeing you and the rest of the family. New friendships were formed and old friendships strengthened.
