The Overly Long Update, and a modest definition of a dream

Comments

Tex, I just want to say that you are one of the finest examples of caring about the product rather than the profit. Personally, I feel when AGI tries to dominate the market, there will be no less market for your team, but all the more demand for it. You are pretty alright, which in this day and age is sadly exceptional.

Good Day Tex, I hope this finds you in good spirits if not good health. My lone question (I've been trying to keep my promise since the Czarvak lightning Round episode) is Battletech related but not about any mech or tank etc. As a Mercenary Commander what questions are you asking the candidate pilots? (Give me 3 or so you would ask in an "interview") Save voice from here as it might go long. Keep doing what you are doing. I have increased the patron as I am able and may have to drop it back down at some point but I really do love what you and the team are doing and it is inspiring. I have now hit over 2 months of releasing at least a video a week for my D tier YouTube channel and each goal met keeps me going. It's not a year long endeavor (yet!) but if I break it into smaller pieces it doesn't seem so daunting. Next on the docket is to keep the videos coming but also get streaming. Anyways enjoy your day I appreciate you and the team for all the work not just the Tex Talks.

Hi Mr. Tex, I had an idea that I wanted to ask you guys about it. Got to thinking about how you talk about documentaries and was wondering if you guys had thought about creating an audiobook anthology of all the Tex talks battletech or for future Tex talks history. I've been messing around with putting together an anthology for my own use as an audiobook and thought it could be really cool for people that can't easily watch the longer videos in one sitting, especially helpful for sven and some of his longer format videos. I would guess it could never be something hosted on audible because of rights issues but either a self hosted service or something like audiobook bay. would love to hear if you guys had thought about this before and if it interested you guys I'd love to help in anyway I could.

Tex, Save voice as needed. I recently revisited "Tex Talks History: The Greatest Con in early Aviation - The Dr. Christmas Story", and noticed that during it you mentioned a desire to do more real life history episodes in the future. You spoke last week about inflation as well as numerous other factors having lead to some projects being delayed or even canceled, so I was wondering if those additional history documentaries had fallen victim to that, or if it was just something that was being mused about at the time that ultimately did not gain traction. I know YouTube treated that video poorly, but I found it to be absolutely excellent. I know you are already working on the Black Knight, Traveler documentary, and Reunification War projects, so please do not take this as "where is X thing I individually want, hurry up". This is purely curiosity regarding something I enjoyed and hope to see more of someday, as I deeply enjoy seeing the dedication to facts and accuracy you and your team have brought to bear on real life historical events and people. The world needs more of that, especially now in an age where there is so much disinformation so readily available to all of us. Lastly, I appreciate you sharing your thoughts and predictions of where things are going last week. I agree with you that we are going to see a significant shift in many things in the near future. AI slop is taking over many areas of life, and I think it is going to get worse before it gets better. I for one am glad to be here, with people that care about real art, real work, and genuine experiences. Thank you to you and everyone else who makes all of this possible. Keep it up. We all appreciate it.

I followed an inkling and ended up at Phaedrus 274e-275b (Plato saying writing will make scholars appear wise without actually being so). There's a parallel here. As a translator, LLM-assisted machine translation tools have greatly deskilled me and put paid to a large portion of well-paying jobs (though to be fair, this recession had an equal, if not greater part in it as well). What they can't do is translate poetry, drama, novels and the like; conveying all that requires a living, feeling human with genuine experiences and imagination to draw on. I know there will always be that spirit of the uncanny that'll warn me someone (or something) is trying to feed me bullshit. AI don't surf. Anyway, whether it's good times or bad, I got a lot from and believe in what you do, Tex, and I'm staying right here.

Hey Tex, save voice as needed you sound worn down ( which knowing you, you are as you'll happily grind yourself into dust, you wonderful madman) what you do as a film maker and "content creator" is so refreshing even now keep up the great work but please look after your yourself I've upped my contribution, its only a little I know you don't like the para-social relationship but there is a lot of what you do that parcels how a lot of us feel I know youve floated the idea of Merch, I know alot of us would buy it and we know that the money would be going toward future work not sitting in a bank account somewhere hope your work week goes well matey
