Extended Play Lounge - Episode 13 (Round 2)

Congratulations to Led Zeppelin, who won the first round of our poll for this upcoming Episode.

I just want to note for the record that I have never listened to any Led Zeppelin album cover to cover. I have heard several songs throughout the years, but I'm largely unfamiliar with their discography and deep cuts.

I have listed the first five of their albums as the candidates for this episode. We'll run the poll through January 28. Happy voting!

Good topic. I’ll think on it.

R. Douglas Helvering

It’s being published during the day tomorrow. It’s a fun listen.

When will the video be uploaded?

BRIAN MILLER

If you’re going to do Houses of the Holy, I would suggest doing the live versions of the Rain Song and No Quarter from The Song Remains the same. Both are great versions

John B

I'd love to hear Doug's take on the Spirit - Taurus vs. Zeppelin - Stairway plagiarism lawsuit

Scott Stone

Physical Graffiti will probably win next time.

Ray Sincere

Agreed. A lot of variety on that album too.

I love Houses of the Holy, however, I don’t think that for a first experience that should be the pick. I understand why people pick it, but when ‘Houses’ was released Led Zep was already, well, Led Zep. That’s not the album that defined Led Zep. If you have never heard an entire Led Zep work, you really should experience Lez Zep I, and than move on to any other album. That’s of course just my humble point of view.

Marcelo Rosalen Cucatti

But honestly for extended play you should really do Physical Graffiti. Double album.

Scott Friedman

Houses of the holy.

@Eusebio R-Z, So I can change my vote continuously right up to the wire.I suppose this is how polls work in this kind of thing. Can you tell I'm not a fan of "social media"?

While any Led Zeppelin is great, HoH is my favorite album. When I first bought it, I still remember the anticipation while dropping the needle. From the first note till the end - pure love. Every reason I listen to music is in this one.

Daniel E. Whitaker

I’d go for Physical Graffiti as it’s a testament to how they went beyond a mere rock band

Matt Leppard

For someone not familiar with the Led Zep catalog, HoH is a great choice. It is thoroughly accessible, representative of the band's style and talent, with a freshness undiminished to this day.
