How does the UK count as one country when it is three?

2025-04-25 12:40:54 +0000 UTC"Just around the cornah" 🤣🤣 If I had to guess, that accent was an Aussie trying to do a Cockney" Think some of thr facts in this vid may now be outdated so batten down the hatches for this to be repeated on YT comments I'm not a superfan so I dont know loads. Usually only watch if i'm doing a drinking game alongside it (1 shot every time they mention Australia, 1 gulp every time theres a double-entendre, 1 shot every time UK gets a nil points from a country etc, 2 fingers of a drink every time Graham Norton sounds exasperated) I've only ever watched the finals, which is more like an evening event, think roughly 4 hours with a break inbetween after performances but while the collate votes. There's usually 30-odd performances - 1 performance each from any of the countries that made the finals - you get a number or a code to text pop up on screen while that country is performing so you can vote for them. When it comes to announcing the votes they go by country to country. For example, lets say they go for Italy first (This isnt exact so dont quote verbatim but more of an example) - The top 5 countries that Italians voted for (they cant vote for themselves) during the performances will get points similar (but not exact to below) 5th most popular - UK - 1 point 4th most popular - France - 2 points 3rd most popular - Ireland - 3 points 2nd most popular - Belgium - 4 points Most popular - Portugal - 5 points (Cant remember the point structure exactly) Those points would then be added to a running total for all the countries, once all countries votes have been announced whoever is at top of the leaderboard wins. Voting system for your countries act - There are qualifiers waaaaaay before, and i've seen in the past the UK might hold a mini competition on one of the TV Channels and get people to vote who they want. I dont know if this is how its done all the time or if its the same elsewhere or if theres normally a panel that selects people based off of their self-nominations, no idea. Didnt watch last year but I'm gonna guess UK didnt win otherwise I think i'd have heard more of a fuss about it!

2025-04-25 12:40:20 +0000 UTCRegarding hosting, it does cost quite a lot of money, for example that event, Eurovision in Liverpool, a Elton John show had to be put on hold, and rescheduled, there’s the cost of hiring out all the hotels in the area, cost of policing it, and of course producing it, we all know when they put up a 💩 song, but they don’t publicly admit it as there would be a riot! The only reason I watch is the obvious political voting @ the end! It’s so predictable and funny! And 9/10 usually means a Scandinavian country winning! Also when Terry wogan used to do the commentary! That man used to rip into it all perfectly!
