This whole comment made me laugh 🤣 You poor thing. I mean… your poor friend. Very good heart, though!

2025-08-05 21:44:25 +0000 UTCA friend of mine (definitely not me) failed his first driving test because he performed an unplanned emergency stop so as not to hit a Hedgehog in the road. Only it wasn't a Hedgehog, it was a pair of brown and cream Y fronts

2025-08-04 18:56:15 +0000 UTCInteresting! You guys are like, “we don’t EVER want the Americans to know what we’re doing, let’s use every method to keep them confused”

2025-08-04 18:54:14 +0000 UTCNo, we use MPH.. but the steering wheel is on the other side of the car, and we drive on the other side of the road, and we all drive manuals (you can rent an automatic, but I think you'll pay a heavy premium)

2025-08-04 18:18:29 +0000 UTCMy panic situation was when my car broke down halfway through pulling out of a junction, right in the middle, blocking both lanes 😑

2025-08-04 14:10:04 +0000 UTCIt's like metric happened, 90% of the country said "but that's not how we've always done it" and continued using imperial. Slowly it's moved over a bit more, but there are just some things that will always be imperial here, I think. Roads are definitely MPH, miles (distance) and most people still talk about how many MPG (miles per gallon) a car does, even though all petrol stations show fuel in litres and car ads show the engine size in litres. Video was awesome - love Dara O'Briain.

2025-08-04 11:57:18 +0000 UTCWe use miles per hour but buy fuel in litres, milk is sold in pints (although has the litres on the bottle too) and beer is sold in pints (and the imperial volume measures are larger than US customary ones - so includes gallons too); things are generally weighed in metric unless it’s people (and not at the doctors) then is stone and lbs - stone is a grouping of lbs much like feet is to inches; and we measure our height in feet and inches. And measuring stuff you might use cm or inches. There’s other examples… but we like to mix it up. Thinking we use km is a common misconception I encounter in the US so you’re not alone! I think about 80% cars here are still manual, it used to be much higher, if you pass your test in an automatic you can only drive automatics.

2025-08-04 06:14:16 +0000 UTCCame to say that Daz. We're an odd bunch that like to order pints of beer and use miles per hour, but buy our food by the gram or kilogram and measure things in centimeters and meters...err but sometimes in feet in inches as well. We like metric...sometimes, but we'll never stop using imperial either. Trust me we've tried, but we just can't seem to give it up

2025-08-04 04:57:15 +0000 UTCSorry about the post up and then deletion of the video. It’s showing “YouTube” on it and I’m worried it’s going to do something wrong so I panicked and deleted it 😂
