About Kickstarter/Publisher
Added 2024-09-24 03:28:54 +0000 UTCI just got info from Hiveworks that they won't be available to provide a Kickstarter service for a while. I asked when they would be available, but there has been no answer so far. So it's sad for me to say that we have an unknown estimation release schedule for global distribution as of now.
Publishing the book without Kickstarter is an option too, but I'll need strong marketing power for that (unless I get a deal with a big publisher) and that's never been my area of expertise, so I'll hold that option for now.
I'll focus on publishing and distributing locally for now. While doing that, I'll keep looking for possible publishers and partners to make global publishing happen.
If you have any suggestions or connections for this, please let me know.

2024-09-25 15:47:14 +0000 UTCThanks for the input, Stephen! Yeah, I’m aware of the cost of printing and I can handle it if it’s for local purchase. (I’ve been publishing my own artbook for years). But for global distribution, I don’t have any connection for that and if I handle it myself the cost of shipping can be crazy. Kickstarter is an ideal way to do that. Unfortunately, it’s not possible to run a campaign from my country. That’s why I’m looking for connection/partner/any info regarding publisher open for submission. So they can help me bring Raruurien for global audience.

2024-09-25 13:51:00 +0000 UTCI would not try publishing without initial funding from a kickstarter or something similar as making books uses a lot of capital which can grow from unexpected charges from shipping, handling, customs, storage, etc. I would also not recommend doing this without some help from people or groups who have done this before. I would see what resources are available in your country (other cartoonists or writers) for help in getting an initial book together which can be 'shopped' around. This is more leg work but it will help cut down any later costs in time and outside 'help' in trying to get pages laid out. [AKA you may need to redraw or edit some panes because they don't fit well in the page layout. you may find colouring is also an issue as I think different paper types will require different ink sets due to absorption and shine.] I hope the above helps and I wanted to emphasize that this doesn't mean that a book isn't possible, but it may mean you will need to look at a longer runway to take off.
