For this I reasoned that as Chara is an adopted daughter of Asgore and Toriel, it would make sense that she would technically be part of royalty as well; I'm sure Asgore and Toriel see Chara as just as much their child as Asriel, so the title is from her adoption by Queen Toriel and King Asgore.

2020-01-01 19:03:59 +0000 UTCI can't help but imbue stuff like this with headcanon. Like... she's got a crown(or tiara, whatevs), which you usually only get if you're royalty. Only confirmed royalty is Toriel, Asriel and Asgore. Only way to become royal if you're not(outside of killing the existing royals and declaring that you're now the royal is to marry into it or get adopted into it). So is the royal title from official adoption by queen Toriel or because she's the official sex partner of prince Asriel?
