Stepford Magazine: Patricia's Story: 1

This is from an article--the full layout will be done later, and PDF pages will be provided. Figured you might want to see the beginnings and art.

Everyone is being forced to adapt to the new changes sweeping the business world, and we at Stepford Magazine are here to help you.

One of those biggest changes is the epedemic of former managers being forced to find other places in your business, and you may suddenly find that the arrogant supervisor, humorless manager, or jealous coworker has now been downsized to be your own secretary, assistant, or gopher.

And that can be a difficult transition. Where before they could demand, now they must ask. But fortunately, we’ve spoken with Mr. Derek Wilson, current manager of Kern Financial. So we’ll talk to him.

Stepford Magazine:  Mr. Wilson, we’re happy you could take time out of your busy schedule. Managing an office full of little ladies must be difficult.

Mr. Wilson: Not as difficult as you think. The changes have really made a difference.

Stepford Magazine: Can you tell us about them?

Mr. Wilson: Well, you know as well as I do, nobody really knew what made the change. It was like we suddenly realized that a lot of our people—mainly the girls, just really weren’t suited for their positions, and they seemed to understand it. Oh there was some foot stamping, demands, little tantrums, but well, girls. I put my foot down and they just looked down and signed the new employment contract.

Stepford Magazine: Script payment?

Mr. Wilson: Oh, my no. That came later. This was just reducing their salary to a level that fit with their current position. We helped some of our girls move to room with their former coworkers. It was for the best.

Stepford Magazine: So, you were going to talk about Patricia?

Mr. Wilson: Ms. Baker, was the only thing we were allowed to call her before her demotion.

Stepford Magazine: And she was put in your care.

Mr. Wilson: Yes, because she still had some skills. She just needed some discipline, and I needed a secretary.

Stepford Magazine:  But there were issues?

Mr. Wilson: Oh yes, when she first came in, she was clearly ignoring the dress code.

(Ms. Patricia Baker, showing in her clearly non-dress code attire. Many former executives attempted such forms of passive non-compliance, before they realized that their authority was a thing of the past.)

Stepford Magazine: What did you do?

Mr. Wilson: I called some of the men and other girls in and asked if this was appropriate dress, and then I sent her out to put on the proper clothes. She knew she was on thin ice, and came back properly dressed.

Stepford Magazine: But that wasn’t the last of her… difficulty.

Mr. Wilson: Oh, no, but well, we changed a few things…
