Friends:
Isn't is funny how a simple repair job can spiral out of control? For years, my wife has been after me to fix a broken drawer and when I finally get around to it, I am astonished to discover that the drawer is totally handmade.
I assumed this drawer was early machine work, but it has all the signs of being built with common hand tools. Even better, it's a rabbeted, nailed construction that anyone can do with basic tools.
I ended up doing a mini Furniture Forensics as I made and fit a new bottom board to the existing drawer. As I did the work, I got a complete tour of traditional, solid-wood drawer construction.
Hope you enjoy it as much as I did!

PS: I know people are waiting for be to finish fitting out the Joiner's Chest. I promise that it's in the works. I just keep getting pulled away by things like fixing old drawers.
