Open Emitter RDS Options

Comments

Would be interested in your opinion of the best pistol red dot to use as piggyback / offset on a rifle

Matt Fioravante

I noticed you didn’t mention swamp fox as an option, which means you’re not a fan of their optics. Have you rested their new generation of optics? I’ve seen the Kraken but not their open emitter options.

David Harrison

FYI, the Trijicon RMR HD is in stock at Eurooptic now.

I am a brand new Patreon supporter. I recently became aware of Aaron and his Sage Dynamics videos on YouTube. To say I was impressed with his content would be an understatement! I confess to have binge watched many of his videos on YT. While coming late to the party on pistol RDS’s, this is the subject of interest that brought me here. After watching my very first video on this Patreon channel, it feels like I slammed into a brick wall at 100 mph. Why…??? In considering my first pistol RDS for concealed carry, I was more than excited about the Primary Arms/Holosun Vulcan Reticle on the HE507C-GR-X2-ACSS. I think this is a real game changer in RDS’s for many (not all) people, especially new users. No other manufacturer has anything like this on the market. Honestly, I was surprised this optic wasn’t mentioned in the video, due to its unique technology. Yes, Aaron’s revelation about a recent story on Holosun’s PLA relationship is concerning. To me, what is even more concerning is his statement concerning his future involvement with Holosun products. Politics aside, RDS’s are just another tool in the toolbox. It’s difficult (for me) to ignore good technology choices, based solely on politics. In a firefight, the last thing on my mind is who made the (best for me) tool that could possibly be a lifesaver. Aaron has provided a fair and comprehensive review of virtually every major RDS available in the marketplace (Holosun included). He has given end users the very best information available, letting THEM decide what tool is best for them. I hope this does not change going forward. YMMV.

John Andrews

great video, hope to see this with closed emitters soon!

Jacob Baggs

Is there any mounting fixes for the trijicon hd on staccato seeing the optic hangs so far forward

Dalton Lipscomb

Just a quick thought. I used to have a "never buy chinese unless there is no other option" philosophy. And then I dug in. China's demographics are the oldest in the world - they're worse than Japan. They import something like 70% of both their food and energy (like oil / gas). While they may have more "ships" than the US, their navy is not deep water capable at all. So three thoughts for everyone. 1. If China invades Taiwan, for example, the US would just need to park one destroyer in the Indian Ocean and china would run out of fuel and 90% of the population would be dead within 6 months. 2. China is going to run out of workers and stop being able to mass produce cheap bullshit, and thus not have capital to import food and fuel and will die as a nation. Likely it will fragment into multiple mini-nations and have nasty civil war and horrific death toll, without the US or anyone else getting involved. 3. So I say, enjoy the cheap shit while it lasts, our buying it effects nobody but the Chinese. And I've come to the conclusion that every country has the government it deserves. We deserve Biden, we deserved Trump. Russia deserves Putin. And China deserves Winnie the Poo. Just my thoughts, and apologies for the diatribe.

Jason, it’s clear from that article that Aaron provided that it’s Chinese owned and state investments as well as being a key supplier to the PLA. You maybe right about the Romeo5 /0 being sourced from them, but I haven’t read up to see how much assembly Sig has moved to the states.

Clarke

That Holosun write up is wild; I remember seeing people claim they were a Canadian company for years. Whether or not the word gets out and knowingly funding the CCP is enough to get people to buy from other brands remains to be seen, though.

Darth Revan

I really like my eps and I have some 407c and 407bs. I will not buy a holosun optic again. Trijicon only. I’m warming up to vortex but I’m still on the fence

Joshua Espinosa

I have mine to low settings, But when it's dark I switched to normal. I have the 1 MOA dot!

Fernando Diaz

It will fit of course but it sits pretty close to the breachface.

Aaron Cowan

I personally don’t think so.

Aaron Cowan

I have it locked it for 8 to max

Aaron Cowan

What auto adjust setting do you use for your Trijicon RMR HD?

Fernando Diaz

Thank you about the heads up on the RMR HD. My employer is going to start issuing them to road personnel and I was able to get 5 for a start. I’m glad to see supply is catching up with demand.

Daniel R Jones Jr

Aaron, have you checked whether the RMR HD fits on the quantico hicap optics plate? Thinking about getting one for mine to replace the SRO

EA

I think Sig did on the original Romeo Zero. I want made in America as much as possible, but there is a big difference to me between an American company sourcing parts from china or having things made in china vs a Chineese owned company. Aaron can correct me if I’m wrong, but a lot of manufactures used to if not still do use Chineese parts/ manufacturing. Some like sig have cleaned up a lot of their manufacturing to compete for .mil contracts. If I am understanding what I am reading correctly, Holosun is not just made in China, but owned by China. Please correct me if I’m wrong.

Jason

Aaron no longer purchasing a Holosun because it's also funding the CCP was not in my 2024 bingo card.

GB

RMRs have been my go to but I've recently tried a couple of Holosuns. No more now.

John

Just read the article yesterday. I've been a big fan of the holosun EPS but I find myself in agreement about not throwing them away, while not purchasing anymore. I always check the white paper for updates, but I'm curious about the newer meprolight offerings. Being an Israeli company I'm sure there's always some political controversy, but they aren't the CCP. Would love to hear your thoughts on them or maybe see a review down the road. I may pick up a romeo x. I was impressed by it in store and the sage seal of approval gives a lot more confidence, but I know that sig optics also has worked in China, and I don't know how deep that relationship goes.

Scott Nichols

Any reason to choose an RMRcc over the RMR for a staccato CS?

Nick Vazquez

Managed to drop my Glock with a Delta point on it. I think I saved it by kicking it horizontally before it hit the ground. Turned the drops energy into sliding against the ground.

Tristan Hodgden

Did not know bout this article stuff thanks

Grace Ogle

I didn't think I'd like the RMR HD as much as I do now that I have one. The SRO was my favorite, but when I used the BROS shroud with it, the buttons were a PITA to press so I ditched it and have taken my chances. No such problems or worries with the RMR HD.

Sel Baskurt

The Holosun problem of being tied up with the CCP is a widespread one. I've worked peripheral to some programs sourcing items from China and the bottom line is, if you do business with a Chinese company, you are doing business with the Chinese gov't and the CCP. Even those that are nominally "private" the ownership are all CCP assets, especially when you factor in the semi-official corruption used to keep those assets in line. For my own moral considerations I steer clear of all the Chinese products I can and I'd like to think it helps in some small measure but honestly I'm not sure it does....

aerodawg

4 months ago I was looking for a new optic. At the store I was at they had an RMR HD and an ACRO. The only two I’ve ever seen in person, and I chose the ACRO. Wish I could have gotten both. Would love an HD too. Side note, hopefully when the HD starts being a little more prevalent, we will see some Type 2’s hit the used market at a good price.

Carlo Barbero

Unrelated - did you lose weight? Congrats if you have!

Visual

Thanks interesting read. Looks like Sig has also partnered with them as have others.

Clarke

I have been a dealer of their products fir a dew years and have been impressed with thier normal optic (magnified scope) lines. Saw they introduced a new handgun optic line and was just curious.

Chris Brooks

No plans to do so at this time.

Aaron Cowan

There have been a few recently, but I believe this is the first to cover it. https://www.vermilionchina.com/p/holosun-chinese-or-american

Aaron Cowan

Thanks for this. We are of course interested in your opinion - or we wouldn’t be Patreon members. :-) Link to the article that talks about Holosuns relationship with the PLA?

Clarke

Have you gotten your hands on HAWKE's new offerings?

Chris Brooks
