Sexually Transmitted Fat - Epilogue

The thrilling conclusion is upon us! I apologize for the lack of explicit sex, but I felt like we needed to see where the world wound up after the epidemic had finally burned itself out. And I think we can all agree that the world is a much better place.
We’ll get started on the next story next week, and we may yet return to the world of STO, but for now, enjoy!
The students all came rumbling back into class, the creaks and groans of their chairs a symphony as everyone settled their bulk into history class. Their teacher, easily twice the size of any individual in the room, heaved herself to her feet with obvious effort and even needed a few moments to catch her breath before addressing the class.
“Alright everyone,” she said with one more gulp of air to steady herself. She pressed a button and a large screen at the front blinked on and displayed the words “Recent Human History - Viruses and Diseases.”
“Today, we continue our discussion of viruses throughout history. Yesterday we discussed the Spanish flu pandemic of the 20th century, and today we’ll talk about another very impactful pandemic: the STO virus of the 21st century.
“We know from recorded records and pictures that the human race used to be a lot… smaller than it currently is,” the teacher said, gesturing to her expansive stature. “Can anyone tell me the current average size of a man and woman today?”
A few chubby hands lifted into the air and the teacher selected one by pointing. A tiny voice said, “Male, 6 feet, 385 lbs, female 5-foot eight, 350 lbs.”
“Very good, Susie. But that explosive growth is a very recent occurrence in human history. Back in the 1960s, the average male was just 160 lbs. As of the year 2000, the average healthy human male was around 190 lbs. The STO virus was discovered around 2019 and quickly caused a global epidemic that caused, among other things, massive and irreversible weight gain.”
One boy raised his hand with a smirk, already knowing the answer to the question but asking it anyway. “How did the virus spread, Miss Julie?”
Julie sighed, but answered truthfully--she’d have to discuss it eventually, might as well get it out of the way now. “The virus spread quickly through the transmission of sexual fluids--” she paused as the class giggled, then settled down after a prolonged glare--”and within the span of 5 years had infected the entire population of Earth.”
Another hand shot up, this time from the bespectacled moon face of another girl--the star pupil of the class. “But miss Julie, how could a virus that was transmitted sexually infect the entire globe? Couldn’t people just use devices such as condoms to prevent its spread as what happened with the HIV epidemic?”
“Very good, Cindy, yes, that was a possibility. However, the virus spread so quickly initially that a sizeable portion of the population began to deliberately infect not infected individuals.”
“Why would they do that?” Cindy asked.
“That’s still a matter of some debate. The current theory is that there was a large social stigma against what was once considered obesity, and infected individuals wanted equality. So to achieve that, they began to form cabals that would find and infect unaffected individuals. They were highly effective, to the point where the virus achieved 100% infection and has since been integrated into the human genome.
“This has caused the human body to store much more fat than in previous eras of human history. Initially, this caused some social strife as society fought against its long-held stigma against obesity, but once everyone was the same size the medical definition of obese was shifted to where it belonged in describing true outliers.”
“Like Bryan’s mom,” one boy said, and the whole class snickered. Julie knew that Bryan’s mother hadn’t left her home in years and all her teacher-parent conferences were performed by teleconference.
“Settle, class, settle. We’re all different in our special way, and we don’t want a repeat of the STO riots of 2021,” she said as an admonishment. These children were all born well after the riots, but Julie could still remember. Those were… dark days. Her lesson plan didn’t dwell on death and violence, but she knew that a few of her class would look up her words online and find out.
“The STO virus caused massive changes in humanity. Physical feats that were possible on a smaller creature were no longer feasible. The Olympic Games began to use pre-STO and post-STO statistics to gauge athletes. Buildings and structures all needed to be updated and strengthened to handle a heavier population, not to mention most doors and exits widened as well.”
Again, the students had no emotional reaction to this news. They were the first of a new generation that had never known the struggles that humanity endured as they tried to adapt their world to the new reality.
The only sign of The Old World was the student's desks, which were small enough that their bellies flopped over the table tops and their chairs looked like there were constantly on the verge of collapse. Even after all the building code updates, schools were still strapped for cash enough to use desks from The Old World.
“Perhaps the largest changes were in the field of weight loss. After centuries of being told that this was the epitome of attractiveness, that notion was thrown out the window almost overnight. The entire industry collapsed as people discovered that significant weight loss was no longer possible due to the virus. Medical statistics were updated to reflect the new average, and the standard of beauty was changed drastically.”
This was also met by more blank stares. Most of the children were too young to understand this part of her lesson, but they soon would find out. And she envied them--it was just one less thing to make puberty the nightmare that it usually is.
Just then, the bell rang and the students all stood up and collectively tried to extricate themselves from their desks. It was a daily routine that never failed to bring a smile to Miss Julie’s wide face.
In the class next to hers, Julie could just hear the last bit of Coach Bristol’s sex-ed class. “Remember: men will usually have to lift their bellies with both hands in order to achieve penetration. That goes the same for both heterosexual and homosexual couples, so keep that in mind!”
Julie's smile broadened. In about 20 minutes, Coach Bristol would be raising his belly for her. He never forgot.
