Anchor Foal: second update

Scootaloo's withering stare didn't expect this to have 9200 on the word count either.

(Seriously:  I thought this chapter was going to top out around 6k.  The lesson, as always:  I know nothing.  Also that I'm too tired right now to edit that part out, because now y'all get to make the obvious jokes.  All of them.)

Things got stalled out again during the week.  I'm hoping to post a full blog update tomorrow, but the bottom line is this:  the wall-to-wall medical appointments have resolved into a cement injection procedure on September 9th.

...no, really.  That's the actual name.  It's called a vertebroplasty.  It won't be her first one, so I'm familiar with the procedure:  general anesthesia (which means I had to make an appointment for surgical clearance, and now there's a covid clearance added to that) and an overnight hospital stay.  Also no food or drink from midnight on for the day of the surgery, which means Estee Up All Night (Again).  It's just about an outpatient procedure:  she'll mostly be kept overnight to make sure there's no trouble when the drugs wear off.

Oh, and fun trivia fact:  this is the hospital where The Waiting Doom II was written.  I'm presuming next-day discharge is going to take a while.

I wish I could stick to a more stable writing schedule, but...  it's been appointments as far as the calendar could stretch.  The good-for-now news is that I just hit a clear patch:  nothing until the 31st, and then the grind starts again.  (9/1, (possible) 9/2, 9/5, 9/9...)  So I'm going to aim for an update on Cerea next, and we'll see how August closes out from there.  Other than 'not soon enough.'

It's not a good statement to make this close to deadline.  But a month which featured three weeks of driving to medical complexes is a month which I want to see the backside of.

Cerea should be next.  But when we do go back to Fleur...  there's a pony she's been wanting to meet.

That pony may not feel the same way.

Anchor Foal: second update

Comments

I realize this is the last thing on your mind right now, but I think I figured out why Scootaloo's judgemental stare haunts this story. Patreon may be pulling from other available images on the Anchor Foal story page in lieu of a cover, and the top hit on the Also Liked column is Monsoon Season. But yeah, best of luck to you and your mother in the coming weeks.
