Second update: Daily Equestria Life With Monster Girl

So it turns out I can't really write at the bedside in a hospital room.

You know that little half-swinging table which the nurses put supplies and meals onto?  I thought I could use that, because most of this chapter was written before I went in for visiting hours.  (It's another UTI, or it's the same one back again and it brought two new blood clots:  one in each calf.  I haven't blogged about it because I feel like everyone's sick of rerun season.)  She was sleeping through the visit, I knew I couldn't really finish anything until I got to the desktop -- but I at least wanted to use the time somehow, and I decided to try some editing.

So the table height is -- kind of awkward.  I couldn't adjust it without having the whole thing hit the bed.  Moving the chair also had me partially into the aisle which leads to the room's second patient, and I had to arrange everything in a way where I could both reach the keyboard and not be blocking access to the IV monitor.  It took a couple of minutes to set up, and then I began to carefully examine what I'd managed before heading for the car.

I got about three practical minutes of sentence tweaking before the dinner tray arrived.

Guess where the dinner tray goes.

She barely ate anything (turkey slice with gravy, salad), but I've now been told that low appetite is another symptom for a urinary tract infection. And then she fell asleep for the rest of the visit, with the tray still on the table.  I stayed for the amount of time I'd promised, and spent most of it in hunt-and-peck on the screen.  There are people who can type with their fingers on a touchscreen and I am not one of them.  Stylus and slow.  Besides, I just replaced the overlayer of glass on Saturday.  (The protective extra coating.  It did what it was supposed to:  took an impact, cracked, and saved the actual screen.)  And it's hard to read through fingerprint smudge.

6900 words, and a Glimmer update should be next.  But I'll likely take a day between chapters to recover, along with giving the universe a designated time for punching.

If I had any engineering skills, that would also be the time when I would start sketching out the plans and Kickstarter for a portable desk...
