Interestingly, I actually did do that, and I have a theory that contributed to the problem. I think it might have made it so the solder couldn't get down into the joints. Not sure though!

2021-08-08 00:31:42 +0000 UTCThat's a good question, and I'm not sure. I have not heard of people doing it, which makes me suspect there's a reason. The truth is, you can see the water quite well, it just takes a while for the water to appear sometimes. I did also try dish soap, since that's useful for finding leaks in gas lines and such. Wasn't much help here because the water is dribbling out and there's no gas to make bubbles in the soap.

2021-08-02 02:16:17 +0000 UTCThat's a cool idea! It would be fun to make something with those little Dremel collets. I bet they have lots of possible uses.

2021-08-01 16:36:59 +0000 UTCThe silver solder tool that you made could be upgraded to use compression collets like those used on a Dremel, they have collets small enough to compress and hold the silver solder. Just an idea! It’s far above my current skill set to make.
