I noticed that for the first time when watching this. Although I'm not totally sure that he was confessing to Murano. I think it was quite ambiguous as to what he invited her out there to talk about.
Could have been a confession though, totally on the table.
Although I doubt he was 100% "his old self" in that moment obviously.

You know what was really interesting, is how when Shinichi met with Murano, he turned back into his old self for a few minutes. He was awkward, stumbling over his words. It seems like Shinichi doubted his humanity because he was given the ability to handle so many trials, his fear of spiders, his lack of strength, his sensitivity. And that left him feeling as though he had changed for the worse. But when it comes to facing his problems and confessing to Murano, he’s the exact same Shinichi as always.
