I really love Angel in this arc. Both her design and her personality. Her philosophy actually makes a lot of sense for her character. As a child, she was imprisoned and tortured as a slave, then taken in and brainwashed by Brain to do horrible things and then once again imprisoned for many years by the Magic Council. She has not at all experienced any good in humans. Her desire to be free like the birds she saw in the skies from her first arc has shifted into a death wish, the only way to be truly free of what she sees as the main problem: Being human.
