As in, the relationship can be romantic or platonic. She’ll still refer to them as her “friend”. You just won’t know the difference unless they show you. The only reason you know it’s more than a friend in this episode is because you see Xena kiss Marcus. So they show you it’s more. But she still calls him her “friend” in reference. This is very important.
