2021-02-15 16:57:46 +0000 UTCAs for the question of whether Unalaq can bend other elements besides water I think he can but like Anag and Korra had to learn to control the elements, and that is way he didn't use the other elements during the battle because he did not learn them yet.

2021-02-12 04:45:36 +0000 UTCRemember, Wan received his bending abilities from the Lion Turtle's, and the possession of these abilities was carried on in each life. Yes, Unalaq could bind with Vaatu, but to get the other elemental abilities, he would need to receive them from a Lion Turtle.

2021-02-12 03:48:53 +0000 UTCMy understanding is that being the avatar is having the fusion of human and spirit, not having all four bending types. Having the spirit within you gives you more strength to be able to handle multiple bending abilities but it is not the bending that defines you as an avatar. Unalaq would have to acquire new bending abilities from a lion turtle or someone else capable of spirit bending in order to get any of the other elements

2021-02-11 23:29:34 +0000 UTCThe reason Vatuu took over and became huge was because he destroyed Ravaa. Now with no spirit of light in the world, the darkness takes over. Ravaa would never take over a humans body like that. So basically this is only happening because Vatuu has completely taken control of Unalaq. The reason no Avatar has done it is because first of all, Ravaa was super weak and tiny when she went inside Wan and second, Ravaa would never do something that cruel.

2021-02-11 23:11:39 +0000 UTCWhile I think Korra losing her connection to her past lives is sad, I feel like people blow it out of proportion. I always felt that that aspect of the avatar was underdeveloped and runs the risk of being irrelevant in some cases. No avatar lives in a similar world or deals with similar problems as another so there's only so much wisdom they can give and quite frankly, it is up to the current avatar to use this ability as they see fit. Case and point, other avatars told Aang to kill Ozai but he decided to ignore them. We saw Aang use it because he's a spiritual person while Korra isn't.
