Somewhat changed from Atla where it was (presumably, never confirmed) an Avatar only or Firebender thing since it was mainly Roku who ever did it (Kyoshi once). But Gazan is an Earthbender, and in the most recent Toph comic we actually meet another Lavabender finally ^.^ Also earthbending op, we got sand, metal, and lava. Along with rocks/crystals ;)
