Montana kept getting annoyed at them saying it was all for nothing because she didn't understand that it was they could have just as easily shot her instead of trying to lure her underground alive. In that way they have achieved the same result she's out of the game but it costs them a bunch of lives and it was for all for nothing. Since there's lives didn't amount to anything

2021-10-19 23:07:57 +0000 UTC[SEASON 3 SPOILERS] The matter/energy relationship would also explain a few other mechanics that come up later, such as the Colossus Titan's explosion and steam abilities (it's made up of more material and thus takes more energy to generate), and why smaller Titans such as the Cart have more endurance and can transform more times than, say, Eren's Titan (the Cart is made up of less material).

2021-10-19 22:35:54 +0000 UTCIt's canon, at least in the anime, by virtue of being in the show! Plus I'm fairly certain that Hajime Isayama was extensively involved in the production of Season 1. I'm not sure if it will get explained, but I have a thinking on why that happened that's semi-scientific? It has to do with the fact that the Titans, as we've seen, appear out of thin air — generating that much organic matter spontaneously, if it were possible, would require massive amounts of energy. Similarly to a wire letting off heat when plugged into an appliance, excess energy from the transformation is expelled in the form of steam, heat, and light (e.g., when Annie transformed in episode 23, there was a flash of light and she immediately blew up a ton of people). The initial transformation isn't the only time that organic matter is spontaneously generated, though, as when Titans heal, they rapidly grow back the body part from nothing. This is probably why Hange remarks that Eren's Titan is hot to the touch back when they were experimenting on it. We also know that a Titan's abilities are tied to will, at least the initial transformation. So what happens when a Titan is too damaged to continue fighting, but the person controlling it has an abnormal amount of willpower to push on? I think what happened is, like Kenny said, Eren had an incredibly strong drive to keep fighting in that moment. However, his head was completely smashed, he was missing limbs, and his body was just destroyed. As a result, his willpower forced his Titan into overdrive to heal itself, with the massive amounts of energy being used in order to repair the Titan body causing it to catch on fire.

2021-10-19 18:14:30 +0000 UTCYes, very true! Some of those changes were definitely necessary, especially if they weren't 100% relevant to the plot (not that I like those changes either lol) but things like Mikasa's obsession with Eren were sooo unnecessary.

2021-10-19 18:07:10 +0000 UTCWIT unfortunately cut out a lot of the smaller scenes that give character interactions more meaning. In the manga, Eren and Armin are shown more as friends than the anime portrays them, Mikasa isn’t as obsessive over Eren, etc.

They're my favourite duo (The Brains TM) and, atleast to me, seem a lot closer in the manga in comparison to the anime. This isn't even relevant to the plot, I just love them lol, ignore me.
