Mega64 Movie Club: Poor Things
Added 2024-02-14 04:31:31 +0000 UTC
Oscar season continues! Here at Mega64, we all have the brain of a juvenile child. So we felt right at home watching Poor Things, a new movie by the guy who directed The Favorite. We loved that movie- what will we think of this one?
Next week's movie is THE HOLDOVERS.

I loved this movie when i first watched it. Listening to this makes me realize how much i really loved this movie. Yorgos lathimos makes a lot of good films. I really love getting into ideas the movie just throws at you. People either love or hate it speaks at the quality of the film you get to have some discourse about it than just a resounding boring movie lol. I recommend his other films the lobster, and killing of a sacred deer.

IMO Ruffalo carries the film for me. Haven't seen a doofus played that good since Kevin Kline in a Fish Called Wanda

I like the director but, the fact that its an infants mind in a womens body really creeps me out. Like all these dudes are having sex with a child...I dont know if the consent even matters since the ladies brain is barely developed

Mark Ruffalo's performance is some of the most fun i've had with an actor in a movie in a while. I had no idea he could tap into that Peter Sellers energy.

Literally every movie now has fifteen minutes of graphic fucking, it's so boring.

feel like movie club has been getting a tiny bit quieter in volume each episode, even a volume boost of 10 or 20% could go a long way I think! Love the series, especially since I haven't seen many oscar films this year!

I had someone show up an hour late in my showing of Killers of the flower moon, an hour after the trailers ended that is. I dont get it, unless they already saw it before. Dipping out of this one before the spoilers start. Was just announced that itβll be out digitally on February 27th, if anyone else is waiting

Fun fact about the Holdovers, it was written by the husband of the main actress from that old fmv game Phantasmagoria
