Patreon & Sales Tax

Hey all, I'm sure you've seen this around already and I'm surprised it wasn't implemented earlier but here it is: Starting July 1st, Patreon will now be charging sales tax, due to laws passing in several countries and the USA. This will not effect everyone but it will affect some of you and the amount will vary depending on what the tier you are on entails and where you live. SO, because of this, I'm going to be looking at the tiers and likely making some tweaks so that you are charged the least amount possible.

Patreon will be rolling out a new dashboard for creators to go in and see whats being charged and also make our own manual tweaks. (If I do nothing, Patreon will take keywords from my tier descriptions to figure out the sales tax to apply, however I'll be going in and manually adjusting things to be more accurate to their actual fraction of the tier offerings so you are charged less.)

Important Notes:

• Sales tax is determined by where the YOU, THE PATRON, are located. It has nothing to do with where I (the creator) am located.
• Every country has different rates, but for the USA, you would be looking at 4%-11%, depending on what part of the tier offerings are taxable.
• Patreon handles paying the taxes to the respective countries, not us.
  

To get an idea of what sorts of things may get taxed, this is a quick USA centered spread that patreon has made. I'm taking these into account for the time being while I wait for the new dashboard for this to become available to creators (they say by the end of the month so likely I will work on it in June.)
