YOU  ASKED: What are the best things to eat/drink at japanese convenience stores and/or what are the best japanese convenience stores ?

Apologies that this took so long, we disagreed a bit on this. So you might get two answers, from both of us. This is ElectraSecond, the sometimes writer and idea-haver, first and onliest of my name. 

The best convenience stores, ranked:

1. Lawson's - has good iced coffee. It is also served in Mega, which is a delectable iced coffee the size of your head. Good onigiri, especially the garlic wok-fried rice. In the bread area, a really good chocolate mochi thing. Also recommend being brave and trying the flavored steamed milk- last year they had a maple one that knocked me out with the best sleep of my life like twelve cups of SleepyTime Tea. 

2. Seven Eleven - has the STRONGEST coffee and you get to put sugar/syrup/creamer in yourself. At Lawson's, I often have to deal with giggling students at their arubaito when I ask for five syrups in my coffee. Yes, five. You heard me/saw my fingies. Coffee is meant to be a pleasurable experience, not yet another lesson on the pain and entropy in the universe. Their "American dogs" (like, big hot dogs on a stick) are good. Their nori on the onigiri is better than Lawson's, but sometimes they really skimp on the tuna and you find yourself eating a dry seaweed and rice ball. 

3. Family Mart (Famima) - very good tuna onigiri, lots of tuna in it. The nori isn't as crisp as 7/11, but I never find myself regretting my life choices when I eat it. Good karaage. 

Dishonorable mention- a conbini I rarely see called "Popular" (Popuraa) that I'm not entirely certain isn't a gateway made by angry Japanese ghosts. Go at your own risk.

Otherwise, most of the things in the conbini are fairly standard. I recommend trying Papico in the summer, which is this coffee/chocolate ice cream in a tube.
