Patron Update #1

Hello new & old frens. I'll probably do these short updates periodically so everybody knows what's going on.

Thanks for the kind word about the Symphonia review! I'm happy with the feedback, and it's currently my best performing video within the amount of time it's been out - so that's awesome.

As for future plans, my next actual review will probably be for Symphonia's sequel on Wii. Should be interesting because there are less kind things to say about that one (it'll be my first time going through it). Before then, I'll be dropping my first "Majuularcade" video - the format for which is shorter form than usual, with a particular focus on a game or some mechanic within that game. Less of a synopsis and more of a critical overview. I think it'll be good to have those Majuularcade videos to break things up, I enjoy doing a large variety of work so I hope that results in an enjoyable variety of videos. At some point after the Symphonia 2 review, I'll figure out some way to start accumulating questions for a Q&A.

Just wanted to keep everybody posted.

Cheers!

Really appreciate that :)

Loved the Symphonia review. I've watched many many 'long form style critique' creators and this was an easy sub. You're really on to something here and I hope you have as much fun making these videos as they are to watch! Cant wait to see what you do next!

Thanks so much, I really appreciate the support from the two of you. Always try to make my videos "background listenable friendly" for just that reason. Hope you enjoy the future content!

Between my husband Avvil and I, $20 wasn't enough for the amazing content you create so I decided to pledge as well. Needless to say, I echo what he has to say, and I'm so glad he directed me towards your Symphonia review. I'm currently going through the rest of your videos while I work, and having a great time. I'm very much looking forward to more at whatever pace is the most comfortable for you.

I really appreciate that! I put a lot into my videos because I figure the average viewer of a 1-2 hour long video will notice a difference in quality, and am pleased to see that's the case. As far as burn-out is concerned, I hear ya loud and clear. I have a habit of working very obsessively on one thing at a time, so I'm always keeping an eye on my mental fatigue levels. Thankfully, the nature of the work on YouTube has enough variety (playing games, writing scripts, editing, etc) that the rotation relieves some of the pressure. Nonetheless, you're totally right on the money - I do my best work when I'm having a good time doing it. Thanks again for the kind words & patronage!

I had to look into it - that's a rough situation in Macau. Quite a place to be given the circumstances. I'm glad to contribute to your sanity in whatever small way I can, hope you're able to ride things out!

Your videos are absolutely absurd quality. There are dozens of channels with hundreds of thousands of subscribers with contracted editors who don't put out videos with half the quality of yours, and both the jokes and delivery are on-point interspersed with genuinely enjoyable commentary. I really hope you'll continue making content for a long time to come, and am more than happy to support the endeavor in this way! I'd also say, even if I'm only speaking for myself, never let yourself get burned out in the rush of it all. I've seen Youtube drain people dry, and people who consistently make the best content find a way to create a healthy mix in their lives...even if it means that they "consistently" make it less often than others. I'd rather see an amazing video less often (like the Symphonia, Legend of Dragoon, or Chrono Cross videos) than something with less effort -- this is less about length and more about style and feel.

Yeah, I subscribed to say thanks for the Symphonia retrospective. I finished it a couple of years ago (my first Tales game - yes, I'm behind), and your analysis/summary was both hilarious and insightful. Brought me some joy during the current COVID lockdown here in Macau.
