The Clapham Rail Disaster

The Clapham Rail Disaster

Comments

Probably not something that /all/ your subscribers would enjoy, but I for one would like to watch that aforementioned “whole documentary” on British railway signaling systems, or really the railway in general. I’m a huge railfan but don’t know much about the history of rail transport outside of the US. Just food for thought for a future video

Sgt. Xana

Yes a few railway incident videos thrown into the mix is fine by me.

Paddington! (not the bear)

I thought that today when I watched the final video on YouTube.

I can remember the 2016 crash in Bad Aibling Germany very well. I had a day off and wondered about the many emergency vehicles and helicopters. Thank God there was no school on that day.

Some other train incident which comes in my mind is Germany, Eschede derailment.

I assumed that "Geese" was meant to be pronounced "Jeez." I learned a LOT on this one, and particularly liked the explanation of train braking vs car braking in terms of friction or the lack thereof.

Reminds me of Paddington

Having welded on both rail and nuclear parts, I second a video about the impact tests!

I'm loving the railway ones a lot, and this is one I have an indirect connection with. I was 12 when I saw the original incident on the news on TV, and working for Siemens Rail Automotive (formerly Westinghouse) on the thirtieth anniversary of the event - I made PCBs that went into the ATP systems that became part of the new safety signalling measures introduced after events like Clapham and Selby. I was a contractor though so I was only there a few years, but I digress. First, the video, very clear and precise but a couple of the captions are unreadable because they pop up and away too quickly. The one about drawing a stock train and one of the lights scenes. Also the driver at the signal phone is saying "Geese, what is happening?" I presume he means Guys. Don't you just love autocorrect? Secondly, a combination of both Rail and Nuclear, have you considered doing one about the crash tests done on nuclear waste transport carriages? That one could be fun! Lastly, Hidden's 13 day rule is used by the factory I currently work for too, it stops people burning themselves out and reminds the most ardent Wage Farmers even they need a day off!

my 2 cents, @ 7:41 it's difficult to read the red captions. ps: signal explanation is good.
