The march of the dwarves.

I sat down and got the rangers from the March release painted. The chunky detail really made that an easy feat, and Andrea paints (thanks Gregg) are not too shabby either!

The march of the dwarves. The march of the dwarves. The march of the dwarves.

Eventually yes! They'll also be available at discount during our upcoming kickstarter around June.

Will the dwarves become available for purchase? I only just found this patreon and missed them sadly :(

Incredibly rich paints - they need to be used in a different way from those layer paints. Some Andrea paints are foundation, some base colours, others fulfill a glazing role, and even dry edge highlight colours are in there.

Wyrm Forge

This is all just IMO. They're thick. They do require some thinning. They're also not necessarily six colors of the same color. For example, the cameo is two separate patterns and the flesh has two bases. Each comes with a little instruction booklet that gives you ideas on how to use them, but it's mainly mix base + highlight, mix highlight 1 & highlight 2, etc... You do not wash with this or start from the darkest. You apply the shadows manually with the base + shadow 1 then shadow 1 + shadow 2. Perfect? No, but very handy.

Never used Andrea Sets so far, are the six variations really so useful? and how is the consistency compared to e.g. Vallejo? Mmh, and I have heard somewhere that they chip quite easily, is this true? If they help a poor beginner in blending, it is very tempting to try them after seeing these beautiful dwarfs..:-)

Print came out great. 2 miss prints on feet but that was down to my supports. Got to say these are great sculpts the detail really seems to pop on them probably better than they do on the infantry which are great to start with. Scale wise I found your mando and these guys slightly large as where but when printed at 95% they are about the height of the infantry but slightly more 'heroic' . But all in all some of the best dwarves I've seen in a while.

Ack, the dwarfs unfortunately have a bit of a scale inconsistency between most of them at the moment. Its something we are working on trying to normalize before the kickstarter we are planning.

Wyrm Forge

If you're thinning down the Contrast Black Templar might want to switch to Basilican Gray, which to me at least, seems like a thinned-down version.

Joe Kushner

I have yet to try contrast paints, but that black set from A is magic.

Wyrm Forge

Just printing these guys off. Just wondering what has made you scale them up from the ones in the welcome pack? About 5% difference

CommisarSnake

I just picked up the Andrea Black set and Brown set, looking to give them a try - though I have been super lazy with black lately, using a thinned GW Contrast Black Templar to phone it in. :)

I am painting for about 40 years (with changing success!), and I can safely say that their colour ramps have changed miniature painting as a whole to me. Suddenly the colours look right when layered etc.

Wyrm Forge

Andrea has some great paint, I don't think too many people US stateside are aware of them. I like the themed color packs, make most things a snap to do.
