Happy New Year! (First update post of 2018!)

Hey Patrons! In case you didn't catch my last post (the Adventure's End video post), Happy New Year!

2017 was the best year for GaMetal yet, thanks mostly in part to you all! I wouldn't be able to do this full time without the support I receive from you guys and gals here on Patreon. We started the year off around something like $600+ per song, and we ended ALMOST at the $1000 per song mark, I'm hopeful that we'll hit it something this month or next month! The love and support I've received from you all here has just been absolutely outstanding and I can't stress enough how thankful I am for each and every one of you without sounding like a broken record, but I really do mean it: you all are the best!

I'm SUPER excited about everything I have in store for GaMetal in 2018. I have a ton planned, so I'll start by sharing with you what I'm looking to get done the first few months of 2018.

GaMetal VII

One thing I want to do immediately this year is to get together and upload the 2017 compilation album GaMetal VII. I'm actually really happy with most of the sound from 2017, but I do want to remaster everything made before I switched to the Side-Quests 1 sound, which would be everything I made before Terrormisu, with the exception of Star Dream (because I feel like the sound fit perfectly on it). So that would be from Decisive Battle to Twinrova, which is only 6 songs. That won't take me long at all.

We've also had the song name idea sheet going on for quite some time via the Discord, so if you have any suggestions for song name ideas for any of the 2017 songs, feel free to leave your suggestion on the sheet! It should be able to be edited by anyone.

As I said, I'm looking to get GaMetal VII out immediately, my current goal is no later than the middle of this month.

I will probably do another Youtube Live Stream Q&A when it's released as well.

First 2018 GaMetal Songs

If you're caught up on the most recent update posts, you should already know the next 3 songs lined up for 2018. All 3 of these should be completed in January:

Lightning Battle from Kid Icarus: Uprising will be the 2018 premiere.

Cannonball from Mega Man ZX will be second up, one of my hand picked request list songs for Patrick Caputo that you all actually chose from a poll I made.

And the third song for the month will be the long overdue Main Theme from Super Smash Bros 4, which was December's request list drawing winner for TheHarDeOne.

Speaking of request list drawings, the next drawing stream will be on Friday, January 5th, around 3:00 PM US Central Time. For all of you new Patrons that have left me your list, or older Patrons who've updated theirs, I'll be getting to those either tonight or tomorrow! So rest assured you'll be in the drawing. :)

The fourth song of January will be the January drawing winner if I can manage to squeeze it in, if not it'll be the first song up in February. It will then be followed by one of two songs: my hand-picked request list song for January (TBA after the drawing stream), or a song that you may or may not be aware that I have planned for early this year:

This was actually a NES Medley #5 winner for Medz, but I offered to do a full version sometime in the future because I have a deep respect for Tim Follin's music. They deserve full pieces! On that note, hopefully I'll be able to get around to the Solstice Title Theme sometime later this year, as well.

I've talked about doing this one on the GaMetal Discord but not really a whole lot here, so now you all know! xD

On the topic of the GaMetal Discord, I created a new Request Battle (Discord song poll) today, and based on Discorder votes, one of these songs will be done sometime early this year:

That would be either Battle! Lusamine or Battle! Gladion. I put off doing a Sun and Moon cover all last year, so I gotta get to it sometime soon. Currently Gladion is winning 45-35 but anything could happen!

Atmacoustics

I really want to beef up Atmacoustics this year, so I have 2 very high priorities at the moment, first off: getting caught up on all of the acoustic shorts I've fallen behind on. I owe a TON of these to my higher tiered Patrons and it's time to tear down that wall, so after today, expect 1-3 new acoustic shorts every weekday. I can't thank you Tier 5+ Patrons enough for being so patient with me, and I feel horrible about it, but it's my first New Year's Resolution to get completely caught up with these at the start of this year.

Second, I'm wanting to do several more full acoustic songs this year, complete with videos for the Atmacoustics Channel. And the first song up is one I've been owing to you all for a REALLY long time (again, can't thank you all enough for your patience!):

A full acoustic Gaur Plains from Xenoblade Chronicles. Expect this one sometime this month. No more waiting!

Project Dream

I probably mention my top secret Project Dream every time I do a live stream, but the time is getting closer. I wanted to have this done by the end of 2017, but.. eh.. things happen xD. But this is another thing I'm going to be going full force on getting finished, hopefully by February, so I can begin working on the Side-Quests Volume 2 album (more on that in a second).

More info will be released as I get closer, but for now, I give you this teaser image:

Side-Quests Volume 2

The second Patreon album, Side-Quests Volume 2, will be the next big project once I'm done with Dream. We drew the songs for this album back in November, so if you missed that stream, you can see the full Side-Quests Volume 2 song list here. This one's gonna have a ton of great songs, so I'm really looking forward to it!

Twitch

Did you know I stream games on Twitch occasionally? I still get people that pop in my streams every now and then that say 'I didn't know you streamed', haha. I don't heavily advertise it much because my streaming schedule is rather sporadic and unpredictable, but I'm going to try to stream atleast once or twice a week in 2018, shooting for twice. It's a rather low priority since Twitch is really a just-for-fun thing for me, but I do want to be a little more active there. So follow me and join us for some games if you get a chance!

Conclusion

And that wraps up the first update post for 2018! Again, I have a ton of stuff planned and I'm super excited about all of it. This year is going to be the best year for GaMetal yet, hands down, and it wouldn't be possible without all your generosity and support!
