March Report and postmortem (sort of)

Hi everyone!

So the release 0.2 was a long time coming and I'm doing my utmost to ensure the next update won't be as long in the making. However, the next update will involve the end of the story's first act and there are a *lot* of assets I require which I am discussing with the artist.

In addition, I am taking April to complete an outline of the rest of the story, which requires a bit of context.

While I've always had in my mind the ending, the main plot and a lot of the character arcs in my head, there are a lot of wide gaps between the major plot beats and I need to fill those in. Firstly, because I need to ensure things I will set up and already have set up are paid off properly and because it's difficult to foreshadow stuff in a way that isn't obvious if I don't know how it will evolve and be referenced as the story goes on.

I had a pretty exhaustive almost wiki-style plan when I was writing day 1, before I ever released the project publicly, but the problem (for me at least) with doing that level of down-to-the-smallest-detail planning is that it it's too rigid. While writing, I often find myself doing some freewheeling and exploratory writing and while a plot outline can be flexible enough to accommodate that without totally going off the rails, what I had started to fall apart the moment I started writing and I found stuff I had planned out either didn't work in practice, or simply wasn't interesting or relevant.

When you spend months meticulously planning something out to that detail, its demoralising, hence why I eventually just pared it down to the basics and wrote what Polar Night currently is. And it worked so far, but I still need a framework to remove uncertainty.

But in other news, Hop Skip and the Chewtoys made a new track for the game, which you can listen to here: https://youtu.be/oeAogRe9Spk

This will be replacing some of the instances of "chill.mp3" that, while I like it and I feel it's served the project well, was a royalty-free track I used for calmer situations and I feel isn't quite hitting the tone the project needs.

As always, thank you all for your patience and support!
