How to Redeem Your Benefits

Table of Contents:

Hello, and thank you for your support! It's literally life-changing for us, and we want to make sure you get all of your benefits as simply as possible, while still having the ability to customize and control it.

This post contains instructions for how to redeem your benefits. This will be a living document, so expect to get email updates if we make any significant changes. Finally, the comments on this post are a place where you can ask for help.

A note on feedback: Everything here is the best solution we could find for the problems we're trying to solve. It's imperfect, but we've tried to account for a lot. Please read the entire document to get a sense for what to do.

All you should need to get your rewards is the Patreon website / app, a podcast app, a web browser, and email. Everything else is details, which you can see below.

GENERAL ADVICE

The most powerful way to find what you're looking for is to search on the Patreon page itself, or use our tags to browse things by category.

If you use the advice below, understand that you only need to subscribe to two feeds to get all of the content that's coming your way: the Patreon Private RSS feed, and the Duckfeed Public Combo feed. This includes Bonfireside Chat.

PREMIUM CONTENT

By backing us, you gain the ability to access hundreds of hours of premium content. This is a good thing and a bad thing, because that vast body of audio is difficult to sift through.

The best way to get an RSS feed with our premium content (Bonfireside Chat, Premium WOFF!, Exquisite Suffering, Unfilmable, Adaptation Decay, etc.) will be to use the feed that Patreon provides you directly. There is a secondary way that currently (as of March 2022) has problems, but some people are finding that it works for them.

HOW TO USE THE PATREON PRIVATE RSS FEED

All premium content (except for early release episodes) will be released here on Patreon and will be included in your Patron RSS feed. For a detailed explanation of how to use this feed, Patreon’s support page is a great place to start.

Stated quickly here are the steps:

1. Go to the "My membership" tab on the Duckfeed Patreon page.

2. Scroll down to the "Private RSS link" section and copy the URL there.

3. Copy this URL and paste it into a podcast app.

You will need to consult the documentation for your podcast app to learn how to add it there. It should be simple, but there are too many different podcast apps for us to help you. Here's a good place to start solving this problem, along with a list of apps for different platforms.

You might also receive an email from Patreon containing your private RSS URL. Clicking this link won't work for most podcast apps... You need to copy the text of the link itself to get a URL that works.

PER-SHOW FEEDS ON FIRESIDE

Our hosting company, Fireside.fm, allows people to use their Patreon credentials to access a private feed of premium content on a show by show basis. You can find our instructions on how to do this by clicking here.

This feature is currently buggy and lots of people are finding it impossible to register for reasons we don't understand. If this applies to you, you will need to fall back to the Patreon feed.

THE DUCKFEED PUBLIC COMBO

If you want to subscribe to all of the public Duckfeed shows (everything that's not a Patreon benefit) with a single feed, you can use the Duckfeed Public Combo. Instructions on how to subscribe to this feed are available here: The Duckfeed Public Combo.

The shows currently appearing on the Duckfeed Public Combo are:

You can also subscribe to each show individually on iTunes, Spotify, etc. or by going to each show's webpage and using the Subscribe page.

JOINING SLACK

To join our Slack community, just follow this link to see specific instructions.

PREMIUM CONTENT WELCOME PACK

Members who pledge $3+ per month can get a welcome pack of our premium content, just to get them started. You can find details about how to redeem this at this post.

WOFF! DISPATCH PROMPTS

Once a month we release a Watch Out for Fireballs! Dispatch episode. The bulk of this episode is listener questions and prompts. A few days prior to the recording of that episode, we put out a "Call and Response" post on Patreon, and you can submit questions as comments on those posts.

SPECIAL THANKS

New $10+ backers will receive a link to a form for their Special Thanks when they subscribe. Fill out this form to get your name into the hopper. We thank 5 people at the beginning of each non-Dispatch WOFF! episode.

WOFF! GAME SELECTION

When you back at the $300 level, your info is put into the Patreon system so we can reach out to you and begin the conversation about what you'd like us to cover on WOFF!. This might take some time, because we tend to do them in batches. Just keep an eye out, as Gary will message you using Patreon's messaging feature.

ABJECT SUFFERING GAME SELECTION

If you back at the $25 tier, you have the ability to select one game for us to cover on Abject Suffering per year. Previously this was handled with emails, but that became cumbersome. We're switching over to a simple form. If you submit multiple forms, we will assume the most recent one you put in is your choice for that year, overwriting the previous one.

Backers at the $25 level will be able to access the form by clicking here.

CONCLUSION

As I said at the beginning of this post, we will do our best to keep this up to date. If this seems like a lot, it's because we're delivering a lot of content, in a way that far exceeds the tools available to us. But we've done our best to make things easy and customizable, and I hope that is sufficient for you to feel like you're getting your money's worth.

We greatly appreciate your support!

waagh! i'll miss ES but I understand that slot could be better used elsewise

Pondo Vyher

I just joined at the $10 tier and am listening on Spotify. Is there an easier way to filter for just the stuff I'm looking for on Spotify or is it just kinda a scroll and pick kinda app?

Chris Debord

Fortunately Castro seems to be the solution. It’s definitely something to do with Spotify. I appreciate your assistance and am thrilled to have access to those episodes. Digging into Shadow of the Erdtree has me craving Elden ring content and your FromSoftware stuff has always been the best of the best.

G Cates

That’s very frustrating that you tried all of that and it still didn’t work out. It sounds a lot like a weird authentication problem and Patreon not generating a proper feed for you, but I don’t know why it’s serving you some episodes and not others. This is the kind of issue that has fixed itself in a day or so in the past, but I hate you having to delay listening like that. Give the disconnect and reconnect a shot, and I’ll report this to Patreon and see if I get a response. Also, Blaze stuff shouldn’t be in there wtf.

Duckfeed.tv

The same problem exists on Overcast and if I use the bonfire side chat specific private feed. Barely any episodes available. Also, as a curiosity, when I input the public combo feed into Spotify I added in a lot of random Blaze media stuff, very confusing. I’ll try what you suggested.

G Cates

I’m unsure what could be causing that to happen for you. I’ve checked our version of the Premium feed on Spotify and all Bonfireside Chat episodes are available on it. There must be some kind of authentication problem on the back end. I’d recommend unsubbing from the podcast on Spotify, disconnecting Spotify from Patreon, and then reconnecting and resubscribing to see if it generates a new feed or authorizes you properly. If that doesn’t work, you might have to wait a day or two because sometimes these weird glitches happen with newer subs and take a minute to resolve themselves. If you have another app you can listen on, you can use the other listening options in the meantime if you’d like. I’m sorry for the headache, I don’t know what’s up. - K

Duckfeed.tv

So I backed at the $5 tier and the feed didn’t have all the Elden ring episodes. Then I upped to the $10 tier thinking those episodes were locked behind that yet they still aren’t available on Spotify via the subscriber feed provided. Only BSC episodes 202, 203, 283, 284 and 285 are available. What’s the deal with that? Why are so many episodes not available to the $10 tier?

G Cates

Hey, by admin name do you mean your Patreon email? I'm struggling with this.

Jason Chastain

Hi, I'm new to posting on Patreon. Been listening to your Elden Ring pod from beginning to end, and was wondering where to find a link to send questions? Like the ones you sometimes read during the roundtable discussions

Nick Berluti

hi! when I'm logged into patreon, it shows the Duckfeed Presents of Season 3 of I Think You Should Leave as only being available if I subscribe at the Condor level. everything else I've looked at here seems to indicate that that if you're an Eagle, all shows should be available to you [I'm currently at the Duck level but considering upgrading]. Is the episode tagged incorrectly or am I misunderstanding how the tiers work?

AJ

That's most of it, but also neither of us particularly like the form factor of discord. -GB

Duckfeed.tv

Is the reason there's a Slack rather than a Discord that you... started a Slack back then and not a Discord, and it'd be a pain to migrate now? Or is there something more?

Joseph

This finally led me to join the slack, so thanks for the reminder!

Maniadh

Another kind of random comment - I appreciate that you don't have "dislike" on comments on the site but in my experience "liking" a comment can also lead to nasty dogpiles when somebody writes a snarky takedown, just trying trying to get applause-. Idunno man, people on the internet are weird and sometimes I think limiting interaction also removes some of hostility people throw out.

Emil

Hey, uhm... I'm not sure if this is the right place to post this, but I just want to say I've been listening to your shows for years at this point and have finally decided to join you here. My first experience with any FromSoftware was Bloodborne and consisted of the game in front of me, my laptop with the fextrawiki on my lap and you guys in my ears. That was arguably the most intense gaming experience I've had so far. Anyway, what I'm really trying to say: Good job guys! And thank you for your podcast!

Benedikt Flörsch

If by premium membership you mean the feed that Patreon provides, that’s because we moved public shows off of that feed to declutter it. You’ll need to either use the new dedicated Early Release feed (outlined in this post) or the public feed at orb.show. Note that the Early Release perk is going away at the end of April and being replaced with some new stuff. - K

Duckfeed.tv

Hey guys, ORB has not been updating for my in my RSS premium membership. The last episode I got was from Feb ORB 71: The Devils grip. I see there are more episodes on the site, but i'm unable to get new episodes in my podcast apps. Ive tried both on Google Podcasts and Player FM apps for Android. I read others having similar problems, and they just had to wait a few days, but its now been weeks since I get updates for this show.

Nicholas Hernandez

Just have to wait, maybe a day at most, and it'll update.

Demicol

Having the same issue. Can't seem to find a fix

Freya N Messinger

THANKYOUTHANKYOUTHANKYOU! I have been wanting per-show subscriptions for years! At one point I even stopped patronizing you guys over the issue - my feed was inundated with ETG and DOTC and abject suffering and a deluge of stuff I had no intereset in - and weeding the feed was becoming a chore. I came back in when I found a podcast app that let me apply filter to the feed, and it helped but still wasn't perfect. Now it is perfect: I have WOFF, Bonfireside chat and Unfilmable. The three best podcasts in my life, each in their own orderly feed, and no weeding of unwanted chaff. LOVE YOU GUYS!

Joakim Ruud

The premium feed doesn't seem to have any new content for me. It should at least show the most recent Exquisite Suffering episode, right? I used the RSS url from the "my memberships" page. Edit: Simply just had to wait for a day or so and it auto updated.

Demicol

Ok thank you, there have been a lot of posts so I probably just missed it. I just thought there might be something wrong with my player! :)

Michael Slater

Other posts address this. Premium stuff goes on the premium feed, early stuff goes on the early feed. If you sub to both you will get everything. This is a compromise for people who felt overwhelmed by one feed that was updated 7-9 times per week. On the new one the premium feed will be a more manageable 2ish times per week, with Early Release being available a la carte.

Duckfeed.tv

So does the "Duckfeed premium" RSS still work for all the subscriber content? Because I've been using that on Pocket Casts, and it is currently only showing up to Saturday's LVL 404 episode. Ditto for Podcast Addict. There are new things on the earlybird release thing, but as far as I understand that won't have Adaptation Decay, Bonfireside Chat, etc.

Michael Slater

Never mind, the post below this one explains that is the case. Not a hassle, just wanted to make sure I was getting all that sweet, sweet duckfeed content. Thanks again Kole!!

Daniel Toy

This is my question as well. Really appreciate the hard work by Kole on this. Just want to make sure I understand the two feeds' purposes. Had to download Podcast Addict for the early bird feed as I usually use Google

Daniel Toy

I'm using Podkicker on android, the original duckfeedearlybird.com/rss didn't work but the fireside one did, all sorted now hopefully

Peter McPhillips

i am using addict as well you have to put the admin name, password and then the url in the rss bar then it works

Eric Rinnelt

So the difference between the normal premium channel and the early bird channel is just one has stuff early, and the other has the archive? or am I missing something?

Eric Rinnelt

I put the early feed authentication info in again and now the episodes in the feed are loading for me. I don't know if you changed something on the back end or the internet god's just waved a wand. Either way, it seems to be all good now.

Yokai_Customs

I’ll be updating the early release post with information later today

Duckfeed.tv

I can't figure out this early bird feed. Been working on this for over an hour now. Very frustrating. I've read the posts, I've followed the directions. I'm using Podcast Addict. I just don't know what the problem is at this point. Hopefully most people manage to get this working how they want to but I'm having a tough time.

Yokai_Customs

Just wanted to say thanks a bunch for the consistent updates today, I appreciate how hard this can be and just happy to know you all are on top of it.

David Giza

Amazing, thank you so much for the update! It's been a pain to keep track of everything through mobile browsing and patreon weirdness.

Leonart Biggzlar

of course, bud. again, thank you for all the work you've been doing, it's not going unappreciated

Cassandra Banner

No, that won't work. I tested those back when the Early Release feed wasn't password protected. I will update the verbiage to make it clear. Apologies for the inconvenience.

Duckfeed.tv

so question: i've been trying to put the early release feed, specifically the one with the log-in, into feedrinse, but it's not letting me modify the feed. do you know any way for me to get a work-around on that?

Cassandra Banner
