QUAKSTAK 2: Embarrassing Bands

No, not Hot Hot Heat.

No, not The Offspring either.

No, seriously, it's not Smash Mouth.

Oh my god, okay, I'm done with this guessing game. Just listen to the episode.

QUAKSTAK 2: Embarrassing Bands

Comments

I had no idea any of these bands would be considered embarrassing. I unironically love the Red Hot Chili Peppers, Sublime, Nirvana, Hoobastank, etc. I have grown beyond music taste shame lol. I will happily listen to anything, other than Pearl Jam because their songs bore me. I only have bands I am embarrassed about playing with others like Mindless Self Indulgence/The Left Rights, Avenged Sevenfold, or some song from JB. I still like their music I just feel cringe when they start playing on shuffle during car trips.

I gotta weigh in on this one: for me it’s Breaking Benjamin in HS - this band sounds like it smells like Monster energy drink Nickleback in 3rd grade - just bad music The Growlers in 2015 - cause shitty people

The music from that thing you do, especially that song and my little wild one, were my favorite songs in kindergarten! Lmao

Gary's takedown of grunge music was on point. 20-25 years ago though I would have felt personally attacked. Let's just say my knickname in high school was "the chains man." I'm so glad we eventually grow up.

The Accident Channel

It's rapidly going out of fashion, but those dudes are a huge influence on me. We had a dispatch question about woff sketches and I realized all my favorites are just me trying to do tim and eric stuff. -GB

I mean this in the kindest, most complementary way - The Tim & Eric Awesome Show Great Job vibe from that theme song is off the charts!

Craig Stewart

Was Gwen's sound janky for anyone else, or was it just my shitty headphones?

Malachi McRee

I don't like Chili Peppers but I did learn Under the Bridge for my first band to cover at shows. It's really fun to play on guitar

A band I find embarassing to listen to now but still enjoy is Ludo. They didn't take themselves seriously at the time, so it's hard to hold it against them too much, but some of that old stuff is just oof city. Also a fun intersection with musicals! (They wrote a rock opera about a dead wife and time travel).

Oh God. I'm sorry to sound like an insufferable know-it-all, but...Did you know they recently figured out just what the hell (probably) happened to the crews of the Terror and Eribus. It was around 2018 when the TV adaptation was happening, coincidentally enough. I'm not gonna say what because one of the books ideas about it turned out to be the truth, and I'm not about that spoiler life
