In regards to Rennala summoning being able to summon a Bloodhound Knight during her fight; the other possible summons are pretty transparent references to the servents of Ranni/the Carians (wolves=Blaidd, troll knight=Iji, dragon=Adula). In my mind, Rennala's Bloodhound Knight summon, combined with Blaidd's description of Darriwil as "nothing but a traitor" when you two go to kill him in the Limgrave evergaol, seems to imply that Darriwil was also a servent of the Carians, and that it was them he betrayed. The BHK summon during the bossfight serves as just a little extra bit of connective tissue to get to that 70% lore answer as Gary always says. Plus, if I remember correctly the Elden Ring comedy manga explicitly has Darriwil being a former servent of Ranni alongside Blaidd, and it's possible that the writer had some insider knowledge on the subject directly from From. Food for thought!

2023-11-09 13:55:41 +0000 UTCIn regard to the cut dialogue where Malenia implies she knows the Tarnished and calls you beloved - My working theory the entire time I was interacting with Millicent while playing the first time (and trying to keep as spoiler-free as possible) was that she actually was Malenia, wounded and amnesiac after the battle with Radahn. I assumed as we followed her quest and gave her items like the prosthetic, she'd recover more and more memory until an eventual showdown. That theory didn't pan out obviously, but now I'm convinced that was the original quest intention, and they only changed Millicent to an offshoot in revisions.
