A very beautiful, emotional episode. I agree with you on how different each companion's relationship with the Doctor has been unique, and 12/Clara is incredibly special. 💔

2022-03-29 20:34:13 +0000 UTCThis is one of my favorites and I cry every single time. Peter & Jenna are so great together, especially here. I love the Doctor and Clara's relationship - it's very different from the other companions. Each companion seemed to have a different kind of love. There was a romantic kind of love with Rose, an unrequited one with Martha, Best Friend kind of love with Donna, Familial love with Amy & Rory, and a sort of Obsessive love (in a good and bad way) with Clara. Clara's story even started with Matt Smith's Doctor being obsessed with how he's seen her twice before and she had died each time. When he regenerated into Peter he told Clara that he wasn't her boyfriend, she said "I know you aren't" and he said "I never said it was your mistake", or something similar - so there are already feelings there. Then for a while after, he spent a lot of time specifically trying to not notice her that way again by constantly poking fun at her appearance. As for Clara, she was also obsessed. She lied to Danny because she couldn't stop traveling around with him. After Danny's death, I think they both just got very emotionally attached to each other and I don't think their travels would have ever ended until one of them died somehow - because they were both that emotionally attached to one another. You don't punch a diamond wall for 4 and a half billion years unless you love someone so much to the point that you're obsessed with keeping them alive. To the point that you'd literally do anything. And that's scary and beautiful. In my opinion. It's also why the Doctor and Clara together being the hybrid would make a lot of sense.

2022-03-21 17:07:08 +0000 UTCLike you, at the time I "think" I enjoyed Heaven Sent. Then I watched this episode, and that cloisters scene with Clara in floods of tears from finding out what the Doctor did and for his long ... Such a great heartbreaking moment of companionship like GG says earlier. If you go all the way back to when 11 phoned Clara to ask her to accept 12 as the Doctor, in this scene she gets reminded again that this is the Doctor and they shared so much that he needs saving now to get over her loss. It finally made me understand what Heaven Sent was, but also how touching and warming this episode was, that rightfully took centre stage from all the sci fi Gallifrey call back that some fans wanted to see. Rose wanted to go back and save her Dad and 10 warned her against it as a guardian of the rules if time travel. 12 is weary and less constrained by these times, he just didn't care, he wanted his friend back and those silly Timelords can go stuff themselves. Timelord Victorious and much more all super powered by fear and grief. Great send off 😭 p.s. "I had a duty of care", if ever that was an example of 12 just not being able to verbalise what he was really really thinking 🙄. "If I see her again, I know I will recognise her ..." And then that look from Clara .... In my highly controversial opinion, Peter & Jenna had some of the best Doctor/Clara scenes, balanced acting on both sides
