Hey Guys 😃 I recently had someone ask me how I manage my line width and what factors do I consider when I decided to make a line thick or thin.
Honestly it really comes down to my light source.
If the surface is farther away from the light source the Line should be darker and thicker. If the surface is close to the light source then I make the line thin.
When I first started to learn how to draw, I would create my drawing using the same line width. After I was happy with the design and layout, I would then go over the drawing again, but creating thicker lines where the shadows should be.
One of the the easiest ways to learn this concept is practicing with basic shapes or practicing with smaller subject matters like a Face or Head Bust.
I think artist often start to big and get overwhelmed with this concept. Remember, you have to crawl before you walk and walk before you can run.
Please Message me if you need help with this concept or would like me to review one of your drawings. 😃
