Also I love that they didn’t make a big deal about the new tech. Like people always criticize Korra for being too advanced but we literally had submarines and zeppelins in atla. Like cars and tall buildings was not a huge jump at all

Ambros

9:20 , us. Literally every fucking one of us who hadn’t read the comics when we started watching Korra😂💀

Ambros

You guys should totally read (or watch the in-motion versions on Youtube) the comics before continuing! There are 6 different 3-part stories that take place in between ATLA and Korra. They're a really great set-up for this new universe in Korra!

Ryan

thank you so much, that means a lot to us ❤️

LM Reactions

Agreed, this is definitely the best reaction channel there is. And I’ve been through a LOT of reactors lol

RJ

Guys, I'm wanting to say this since ATLA's finale, but I just couldn't find the words. When your channel was recommended to me I had no idea I would enjoy this journey so much. I freaking love Avatar and is so, so good to see someone that really apraciate it that much. You became my favorite reactors because I love how you pay attention in every single detail... Not just apreciatting a good fight, a good story but especially a good character development hehe I love how sensible you are, and how connected you both got with this. You are really so so sweet, every time you say ''my baby boy/girl'' I kind melt because at this point I feel kinda this way every time you cry about this little things lol. So I'm really glad that you gonna react to Korra, because I know that you gonna love it. I think the major differece (aside comparisons), is that ATLA is flawless, an LOK maybe do has flaws duo to nicklodeon's inteference... But is hella a good journey. I personally am so similar to Korra (even her flaws) that her development reachs me really bad... but we gonna talk about it in the end of the series hehehe. Love you guys.

Check out the original creators instagram! They just announced they will be launching their own Avatar Animation Studios and are starting production on a full length avatar animated movie next year! not sure what it will be about yet but I'm personally hoping it'll be about the Kyoshi novels (which were AMAZING)

Rachel S

sees metal bending "DO YOU KNOW WHO INVENTED YOU GUYSS!!" LMAOOOO

StrawHat

After reading/watching a lot of interviews from the creators, I get the sense that they didn't want to get bogged down into more Avatar stuff- at least at the time. They wanted to do new franchises and were reluctant to come back to doing more Avatar. But Nickelodeon kept enticing them to do more seasons. I think that's why the seasons feel so disconnected.

the Forgiven

She's 17 in season 1

Effi

I'm so excited u guys are starting this journey Korra is one of my favorite shows and I know u guys will like it. some people give it a a hard time but it's a great show

Kamau Catching

I mean yeeaaaahh, while I feel like that might be sort of true, ATLA still did have the basis of an overarching plot for a more complete story. In season one during the winter solstice when Aang talks to Roku, it sets the timeline for Sozin's comet and affirms learning all four elements and defeating the Fire Lord as Aang's main goal. Even if from a technical standpoint they were only greenlit for one season, they've stated and it shows that they had a clear plan for 3 books. Whereas Korra season 1 was written and intended (but probably still with hope for success and potential to create more) to be a single season. Her 'missions' are always confined to each book, she doesn't have the same grand singular mission like Aang did.

Tenzin: Oogi, yip yip. Lola: COOKIE!??

RJ

She looked like she could be 16

PamRenea

I knew you two would love Korra the character.

Javier Aceves

thank you so much for this

LM Reactions

Loved the excitement!!! So cute!

Brian

Technically true, but this is actually standard practice for TV shows and it was true for The Last Airbender. ATLA was originally only contracted for 13 episodes, with The Blue Spirit being written as the original series finale. Of course, they hoped that it would be picked up for more episodes so they wrote The Blue Spirit in a way that they could easily start where they left off. Like most shows.

the Forgiven

That's not true. Mike and Brian said Korra is exactly the show they intended to make and that Nickelodeon didn't interfere much.

the Forgiven

Ignore the haters, you ladies are gonna love this show!

alaskan mitch

It's so jaunting moving from the time period in ATLA to circa American Prohibition.

the Forgiven

Where did you get Korra is 16? She is 18

C

Dang, good catch. I hate it when subtitles do that.

Kaedjik

I'm glad you enjoyed the first episode. I think you're going to love the first season. We'll see from there, but I'm 100% sure you'll love most of what you see. Yes, the Avatar at the start when they say "Air" is Aang, not Tenzin. Republic City is a wonderfully creative mashup between Hong Kong, Shanghai, New York, Calcutta, and places in Tibet. It's one of my favorite things about Korra....the design. Korra is 17 at the start of the show. Tenzin is 51, and the youngest of Aang and Katara's 3 children.

Caomhan84

Episodes you wanna avoid subtitles (cos they spoil reveals early) - Season 1 - Episode 12. Season 2 - Episode 10. Season 3 - Espisode 3, Season 4 - Episode 2. Hope that helps!

Joejin

Yeah Korra’s got them biceps 💪 🏆

Luis

100%. Some people seem to get upset by it which I never understood. I find the fact that Korra and Aang are so different makes this show more interesting. Korra is confrontational and aggressive, which is a huge contrast to Aang. It would be boring if Korra was just a gender swapped Aang.

Drew

One of my favorite things about this show and ATLA is the contrast between Korra and Aang, and how in a lot of ways, Korra’s character is the opposite of Aang’s. Aang never wanted to be the Avatar, but Korra has always known and been proud of being the avatar. He was very spiritual, and she is very physical. Even though they are both the avatar, their journeys are very different. Personally, I think Korra’s character arc is better compared to Zuko’s than Aang’s. So happy you two are watching this!!

Idk if someone told u in detail already but Nickelodeon constantly messed with its season production. They were told at first they were only getting 1 season so they felt they obviously had to wrap everything up in that one season. Then at the end, they were given another season last minute and told that the 2nd season would be the last one. So again the creators had to create another storyline that wrapped up in one season. It wasn't until season 3 that they were given a heads up in advance and told they had two full seasons to actually develop something that felt whole. So just keep all this in mind when thinking about how much plot and character development they could fit in given the difficulties but I think you'll both love it

LateVibes

Old man Sokka would’ve been amazing💔

Smitty Werbenjagermanjensen #1

LOK does not need a reboot!

Smitty Werbenjagermanjensen #1

ATLA doesn’t really need a remake, but LOK needs a reboot.

Katelyn

Fun fact: Aangs reaction to Jeong Jeong agreeing to teach him Firebending is the same as Korra's reaction to the White Lotus letting her learn Airbending.

Joey Jonah Jameson

Exactly, it’s still good but could you imagine what it could’ve been without the complications? Potentially atla level or better.

Nigel W.

This show is fantastic. It's not as perfectly crafted and structured as TLA but it's still one of the best animated shows ever made. It's high points are some of the best TV I've ever seen.

Drew

The Legend of Korra has a complicated legacy in part due to Nickelodeon constantly interfering with its production, but I think you two will really enjoy it. It is severely under appreciated and is a faithful successor to the original series.

here we go!!!!
