He's also too lazy to even question why he's doing something he doesn't want to do and just blindly follows orders, making the world a worse place in the process.

2022-09-26 19:01:34 +0000 UTCFor me, Code Geass is the child of Attack on Titan and Death Note, and has the good and bad of both. Especially that so many female characters are portrayed like Misa Amane is a big minus point of the anime for me (even if they are much better developed character-wise). Also: themes and plot are very similar to the two anime. This could take a lot of depth out of the story, since Death Note and Attack on Titan are still very fresh. Code Geass is therefore something they should start in two years if they still have interest in the story then. Monster would be great! But since I also started a rewatch the other day: Violet Evergarden offers so much potential for discussion. I'd love to see a reaction from them on this anime. I'm just wondering if they might like the anime. There's just a lot of discussion about love, but not perse in the romantic sense. A father's love for his daughter, a mother's love for her child, ... would be examples that come to mind, and how our main character learns what those emotions mean. But I also kind of want them to watch Spy x Family. It's so good... I can see the next war breaking out if they do a poll. 😂

You guys should also really pay attention to the significance of how all the homunculus that died so far in the series (Lust, Gluttony, 1st Greed)! They went out all in interesting and ironic ways way back in the show if you really go back and think about their death scenes! Just goes to show the amazing writing in FMAB!

A year after that, I watched FMAB and was hooked from the beginning. I still want to watch HxH, but the first 20 chapters are really rough.

There are characters trying to achieve a goal, and characters who are trying to achieve the opposite goal, therefore conflict. HxH is about "let's see this character vs this other character". I like HxH but the fighting is the main idea of the show and there's nothing wrong with that. Vinland Saga is an anime about vikings which tries to be realistic. And because it tries to be realistic it has no choice but to depict its protagonists as terrible human beings (by today's standards). I found it a tougher watch than Vikings and had to quit. The only characters I felt sympathy for were those being raped and murdered in the background.

2022-09-26 00:48:56 +0000 UTCI love this episode, because Kimblee's philosophy is really laid bare. Like before you'd get pieces of it, and it was easy to just write him off as a psychopath. But in this episode, you see that he listens and at least attempts to understand the brothers, and even offers a counterpoint, right before going back to insane fighting.

HxH explores really well a lot of psychological and emotional aspects and it is my favorite parte of the anime, not the fights (Like FMAB). Vinland Saga’s description is not totally accurate. Lots of good people there, and it focuses a lot on two particular characters. Again, i believe most value of Vinland saga, much like HxH or FMAB, is not the fights themselves. Monster was a fair description

I'm not so worried about it being different from what you've watched because a good story is going to hook you regardless of the genre or style as you've learned from watching cartoons and animes, not just live action

2022-09-26 00:20:54 +0000 UTCHunter x Hunter is like the draft version of Naruto. It's very creative though incoherent in terms of world-building. Has some very memorable characters. Jujutsu Kaisen is similar to HxH and Naruto but I think it should be watched based on the quality of the animation alone. Demon Slayer has the shonen formula down to perfection. All these are fight-anime meaning the bulk of it is about X character fighting Y character, more geared towards a male audience. Vinland Saga is rough. All of the characters are a murderers, rapists, thieves, or a combination of the three. Very hard to sympathize with any of the protagonists. Monster is a mystery-thriller. Your reviews will probably end up being more than twice the length of the episode.

HxH is an anime that becomes absolutely god like later on imho. Kurapika’s/spider arc and the ants is something they would enjoy a lot. But getting there may be a problem

2022-09-25 23:15:11 +0000 UTCYeah, I remember how bittersweet it feels to finish Fullmetal Alchemist. Unlike other series that continually get milked with new content, FMA kinda just ends. There's a new mobile game and live action movies now, but when I first watched FMAB, there was nothing. Technically, there's a movie, but I didn't hear good things about it. There's also an audio drama called "Meteor Plan" which serves as a prequel for Ling, but I can't find an English translation of it.

2022-09-25 23:07:04 +0000 UTC@Merfhew i'm still on the no with demon slayer tbh, but jjk is completely different. and i read the manga of jjk, what's coming next is so fucking great i could cry just thinking about it. my favourite arc won't be animated till s3 but the arcs of s2 are amazing, it's going to be s1 on steroids lol and yeah, the jjk0 movie is incredible.

2022-09-25 23:00:59 +0000 UTCAt one point, I was vehemently on the "no Jujutsu Kaisen, no Demon Slayer, let's avoid generic action shonen series on this channel" train, but after watching the JJK0 movie, I have to admit... I wouldn't be upset if they reacted to Jujutsu Kaisen. Would it be their favorite show? No. Are there better shows out there? Probably. Would they enjoy it? I think so, yes. While it's not my #1 recommendation, I'm not opposed to it anymore.
