Band of Brothers Episode 5 Reaction

Band of Brothers Episode 5 Reaction

It has nothing to do with your mental fortitude. Everyone experiences trauma differently, and it affects people differently. Someone who was an absolute beast in combat might be an anxiety-ridden mess when he gets home, while someone who was constantly anxious while deployed might experience very little in the way of long-term emotional and psychological trauma.

Their uniforms were completely different. The Germans wore gray, and their helmets had a very distinctive shape. Different types of weapons also sound different. With enough time and experience you can identify the type of weapon by the sound of it within a certain distance. For example, an AKM has a very unique sound when firing. So does an AR pattern weapon like the M4A1 or M16.

Thx. It’s from the lord of the rings universe or specifically the Silmarillion book.

Cool name btw :)

Episode 9 at least has SOME “f*ck around and find out” elements to it. 6 and 7 are just bleak horrors of war.

JFugly

did you forget episode 9 exists lol

Darrach

Happy New Year to you two too!

How did they manage to differentiate between a friendly and an enemy so as not to shoot the wrong person? Well apparently nowadays they wear color coded armbands. I wonder how many "incidents" there were until they figured that one out.

I remember listening about an SAS soldier talk about his experiences in war. He said that nothing prepared him for the feeling he got being in a firefight with bullets and explosions all around him. He said that he was hooked for life and all he can think about when at home with his family was getting back on the battlefield. Some people are made for war.

On the one side, love the detailed breakdowns, and analysis of the deeper themes of every episode rather than seeing it as war gore. On the other, the you guys are so clearly depressed at the end of every episode of this show…and the next two are the heaviest episodes of the series. Hopefully you two are doing something positive after the viewings of next two episodes

Regarding the PTSD discussion I’d just like to point out that a lot and I mean a lot of soldiers get PTSD but far from all soldier get it. PTSD is not automatically something you get as a soldier it’s down to each persons mental strength or capability I would guess. Many soldier get PTSD but many soldiers also don’t get PTSD and go home relatively stable so it’s very mixed. Some people even enjoy their time as soldiers like the perfect example The Unkillable soldier (this guys story is as insane as it is hilarious). https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Adrian_Carton_de_Wiart

Well start of the Ardennes offensive now. :) Tbh the Germans never had any chance of succeeding in even limited offensives at this part of the war so it was a doomed operation from the start that Germany logically should have used to buy a few more month on the eastern front rather than waste the last reserves in the west. Reason why they couldn’t do much at this point is because they were out of pretty much all resources especially Oil and had pretty much no more manpower left to draw on as well as their air force being weak enough that they couldn’t even get local air superiority against the Allies. Yes I’m a history buff sry.

Happy New Year!
