It's hard to tell what the show is trying to go for cuz 1. it's unconventional and not a show you've seen much before. 2. Characters haven't developed. Reigen can be a dick (no knowledge of the good things he has done like giving advice to Mob because it takes a while to characterize him) and Mob is pretty much emotionless (not knowing how much trouble he has to portray those emotions) for those eps but it makes their development throughout the show much more satisfying. Some shows just take time. The appeal with the Body Improvement Club is that you don't expect them to be as kind as they are at first for example, since the show loves playing with your expectations. I would recommend a rewatch to see how much all of them have changed with a new perspective! I believe the prior perspective you had influenced by other shows affected those feelings for the first eps.

I thought you guys would like the show but I’m ngl I started to doubt myself with those first couple of episodes 😭 but I’m glad it came around to y’all loving the hell out of mob like me and a lot of other folks!!

2023-01-14 09:01:04 +0000 UTCI've read online that Reigen taking off his shoes when trying to reach Mob was very symbolic. It's an action that is done by people when they are about to commit suicide. It was meant to show that Reigen was ready to die to get to Mob and stop him.

2023-01-14 04:38:56 +0000 UTCA little tidbit: the Mob manga ended on the 101st chapter. 100 if you consider 101 a special epilogue chapter. The finale was perfect for me. And it was set up right from the beginning. Right from the very beginning. Mob kept reaching 100% because he was suppressing his emotions--his true self. And Reagan was also suppressing his true self too--but in a different way: by lying constantly. It's a simple parallel with how they hid themselves and obvious in retrospect...but I didn't see the connection until this final episode. And that parallel being the key to the resolution of this story was beautiful. Maybe it was purposefully set up from the beginning just like the manga might have been set up to end around 100.

It really is one of the best examples of what you two look for in a show with characters you care about, love, friendship, siblings and all that other good stuff, it’s why it’s my favourite show ever, and even though I love death note, I understand your criticism based on what yous look for in a show (character depth mainly). Mob is another one of those feel good shows in the avatar genre!
