2023-02-20 09:45:21 +0000 UTCI would also like to mention that Mappa changed a bit of the dialogue in the adaptation, especially the scene in the stable in episode 4 when Einar woke Thorfinn. You can now safely read everything up to the end of Chapter 65, with the biggest change being Chapter 60: https://ww2.readvinlandsaga.com/chapter/vinland-saga-chapter-60/ Personally, I have to say that in retrospect I like Mappa's change better than the original. And I'm really looking forward to the next episodes.

2023-02-20 02:22:38 +0000 UTCin the manga that βweβre friendsβ moment happened the same night einar was yelling at thorfinn in ep 4 but (in my opinion) it feels more earned this way seeing them labor and cultivate their farm together for an entire episode. the last shot being thorfinn sowing literal and metaphorical seeds was a nice touch too

2023-02-20 00:56:16 +0000 UTCBelieve it or not, it's actually only been about 4 months, from June 1015 when Einar arrived on the farm, to October 1015 at the very end of this episode, when Fall is starting and Einar wants to use what they've cleared out so far to plant some wheat. No way years would have passed without them having managed anything but cut a couple dozen trees down. I think Thorfinn cleaning himself up and having his hair back just makes him look different. Einar at least looks identical. Even the beards, they've been coming in since episode 1, and it doesn't take long for a 20 year old man to get one, 4 months is more than enough.

2023-02-20 00:44:02 +0000 UTCI find the farming aspect so fitting even though some may not like I think Makoto Yukimura disguised the farming aspect to real life lessons as Thorfinn and Einar seen in this arc and episode pulling roots and planting new life being symbolic as both Thorfinn and Einar are essentially being reborn in a way and just thinking about that makes me appreciate the writing so much more.
