2022-11-01 08:37:15 +0000 UTCIn my opinion this is one of the scariest movies of all time and it's not appreciated enough! Mostly because something like this could actually happen and has happened, home invasions happen all the time! The director took inspiration from real invasions like the Manson murders or The Keddie cabin murders, he also took from a real incident that happened to him as a child, someone knocked on the door one night asking for someone who wasn't there and left just to discover the next day that several of their neighbors houses got broken into that same night. To me that's far more scarier then any ghost or monster movie. It's very difficult to scare me or even make me jump but this movie did, I can't watch this when I'm home alone, lol. The fact that these 3 could have killed them at any time but chose to torment them is so unsettling! There are a lot of brilliant and creepy shots in this movie like when she's just walking around the kitchen and sack guy is just standing there watching her and he's there for a good while until it cuts off him and when it comes back he's gone, it's so well done! I think a lot of people have had that feeling of thinking their being watched! And in the beginning when she asked for Tamara I always thought she just named it on the spot, I doubt that any of them would use their real names but the way they knocked on the door is so creepy. The most disturbing is at the end when she just calmly answers them and says "because you were home" it gives me goosebumps every time! It's also creepy that they actually killed them in the morning not at night, usually in horror films once it's daylight the nightmares over but not in this movie and they get away with it and you know they are just going to do it all over again to someone else and you never see their faces or know anything about them. And at the end he could have just killed her and stopped her suffering but chose to just take the phone and let her slowly die, it's brutal.
