He's such a good character and he's the type of man everyone wishes for (well besides the emotional unavailability at the beginning of the season). But by the end he just has everyone melting over him and Kate.

Not that he's done anything wrong except for the way he talked about Pen with his mates, he's been a good guy for the most part. But so far I haven't been at all invested in his character for some reason.

2023-02-15 09:52:03 +0000 UTCThis is exactly what i think as well. EVERYONE seems to forget that Pen doesn't have the luxury of having a supporting family or any kind of support really. She has to look out for herself .People's self-righteousness (and Eloise's) is hypocritical because they ignore the fact that both made mistakes and hurt eachother and usually only blame Pen even if she tried really hard to make her see reason and listen. Just like in S1, nobody listens to Pen but they will listen to Lady Whistledown...

I feel like that would be much more interesting. just me?

Also someone's probably already said but Rob when you mention Penelope could have done the better thing and turned herself in, if she'd done that she would have been in a far worse position than if Eloise had gone down for being Lady Whistledown. Penelope doesn't have the protection of a well-known, wealthy and favoured family like the Bridgertons. And that's a privilege Eloise seems to forget quite frequently (Theo reminds her of it when she says she can't see him anymore and Penelope mentions it in their fight in season 1). Should Pen have given up EVERYTHING and destroyed her family just to spare Eloise from any harm at all? In her eyes she probably sees Eloise losing her "friendship" with Theo as the lesser evil for everyone, knowing that in their society Eloise wouldn't be allowed to be with him anyway and that it was probably bound to be found out at some point by someone who would use it against her. Maybe that's a bit calculated but I think it was done out of good intent. She was stuck between a rock and a hard place and chose this option even though she knew it might mean losing their friendship if it ever came out. Hopefully Eloise sees the same eventually!
