He has made a monument to his brutal killing of an innocent women simply because it is his greatest act of revenge against Obi-Wan. It shows how far the depths of his sad hatred for Obi-Wan goes. Also, Kenobi is scrawled on the walls of his lair in the Mandalorian language.

Born into the darkness, which was forced on him by the Nightsisters and then Palpatine. Turned into a weapon, aimed at the Jedi, and then discarded. Maul just wants to have a family and friends. And in his self-destrucitve nature he cannot have any of them.
